Default PHILLYSPEAKS EXCLUSIVE- What's the secret behind a popular Cheesesteak? Cocaine? Norman? Robbery?

Jim's Steaks stands as the leading tourist destination on South Street for cheesesteaks. It seems to also have been a popular spot for locals to receive pot and blow.

Stormin' Norman was being followed by investigators shortly after his release. He frequently hung out on the side of Jim's Steaks-along with a group of Jim's employees and other bums from the area. Investigators began to notice a pattern of homes being visited. A more intensive investigation had police making purchases from Norm, employees of Jim's Steaks, and a few undercover purchases even happened within the popular cheesesteak spot. A final investigation turned up the main distributor behind our own homeless Flavor Flav.

VERY recently, the manager of Jim's Steaks was arrested, who was found in possession of thousands of grams of cocaine and marijuana on his possession-all worth a street value of 10's of thousands of dollars.

As some are scratching their heads-yes... it is the same manager that was recently robbed for $30,000. Needless to say, the investigation is continuing.

Jim's Steaks is still open, assumably whiz wit' a new manager.

I had a friend who sold...something... a few years ago, I was with him when he had to "pick something up", didn't see exactly where he went because we parked on the corner, but he deffinatly went somewhere along the block of Jims, somewhere between there and infinite I think.

Well, this also brings up some questions since the owner who recently died was previously convicted for cocaine distribution. The fact that the main manager now got busted makes speculation a bit easier.

Strangely, this also made me in the mood for one-but I'm on a diet. Then again, the coke would probably help me to burn it off quickly...hmmmmm

Now remember... they also were caught with a distribution amount of weed as well... so you could ask for the broccoli rabe that's not on the menu.

You could probably run straight to Delaware with that kind of fuel.

Why do you think it says 'exclusive'. It is not in the news yet. The police paperwork has been seen and distributed to various local neighborhood groups, so it is public information, but not exactly public knowledge yet.

This is, btw, a great coordinated effort between the South Street Headhouse District, the new LT. of the 3RD District Ministation, and the Narcotics Unit.

Great news. I assume Norman is locked up - again...and there was much rejoicing among the bicycles.

I would assume, but I didn't get exact details about him. The news came down that they just busted the manager for distribution, so that was obviously the big conversation. I'm sure hoping they nailed Norman's #ss hard this time and he goes away for awhile. Unfortunately, my guess is that he'll be a witness for all of this and get reduced time.

Do you think the recent robbery was connected to this criminal element?

I gotta admit, I got pissy when people assumed this was an inside job without knowing the facts. I still say they were just guessing and blowing the typical know it all smoke. Now that it is uncovered that the manager had direct dealings with all the 4th street bums, used them to sell drugs, and was a main distributor? I'm guessing that this was definitely on the inside.

Too much to be coincidence. Look at it like this-you have the one owner that died just two weeks before. He was already convicted and prosecuted for drug distribution of coke. Only two weeks later the manager, who is a drug distributor, was robbed? I wouldn't be surprised if he set it up to make back some money owed to him by the dead owner. The whole thing stinks to hight heaven.

Now, I'd like to point out that there are several owners in Jim's. Some of them are really nice guys and this has to be hurting them incredibly. The one is a QV neighbor and a really great guy. Hopefully they can get rid of all these bad seeds and straighten the place out.

I walk by there a lot with the dogs and haven't seen Norm recently. Thought he was on vacation.
