OMG you mean like the ones wiht the bullet proof windows.
goobee2, here's the info on it.
When I bitched that a place that sold scrubs and cheap furniture decided to cluelessly get into the food business with no idea of what they were doing, and building what they wanted without zoning approvals or any knowledge of the food industry? I was called all kinds of names and told, "who cares?!".
Well, now with burger.org, we got chicken.org. Two junk takeout shops that don't know the difference between food and 2 for $5 scrubs. They will be in and out in less than a year-and completely clueless.
How clueless? They were first named "Oburger.com". Only one problem. They never checked to see if anyone owned the trademark for OBurger, or the domain. Both were taken. They then said, "W'ere Oburger.net!". Taken. Then? "We're burger.org!". Taken, but it was time to open so they just went with it and used the website burgerorg.com on their menus. Only one problem. Yep, you guessed it-some one already owns that name as well.
Such incompetency ain't makin' my food!
That sucks. Why can't we get something quality and different? The new hot dog place up South St. is pretty cool and they offer everything in a veggie version. I'd love something like a paninni take-out place. Chicken.org or whatever got in a prime little location there.
See, this is exactly what pisses me off. They go and build without any approvals or proper permits. Then they give a b.s. sales pitch to south street zoning and they just approve it and c'est la vie. If I did that there would be lawsuits and everything in between to shut me down. Gotta love it.
where is this hot dog place? whats it called?
Sorry, I think burger.org does a great veggie burger.
this space is not zoned for takeout, never was....the pretzel guys were in under a loophole in the code from what I was told.
Zoning around South St always has been something of a farce. I'm recalling that in the 80s a tattoo parlor was shut down based on the contention that they had misrepresented the nature of their business by claiming to be a 'dermagraphics studio' on their city paperwork. HUH?!? How is that not a correct and accurate formal term for a tatoo parlor.

That was in the 90's, and it was a bit more contentious than that. Either way-the board spent $35,000 to fight that idiocy. Same with takeout businesses. Some well meaning ones have been smashed by the district, while those who have questionable practices get in scott-free since they know how to slither their way in. Meanwhile, this stuff goes on completely unaccounted for.
