Was strolling down Fabric Row tonight and noticed a store front between Fitzwater and Catherine that had a large inventory of Genuine scooters in it -- there appeared to be some work going on in the space. Is a scooter shop opening up on Fabric Row?

The scooter store on E Passyunk does or did sell the Genuine brand. They also stopped using the space between their store and China House. Perhaps they needed the Fabric Row space to build new scooters and/or repairs. The Passyunk store is closed on Sunday and Monday so I cannot check out my theory until Tuesday. It is also possible that they stopped selling the Genuine brand and someone else picked it up.
If no one else has the real answer I'll check it out on Tuesday.
But all in all, it's been a fabulous year for Laura and me.

I passed by the E Passyunk scooter store an hour ago and a couple of things make me think your find may be connected. First the Passyunk store is literally filled to overflowing using both store fronts to house their sale bikes when they are closed. Second they don't seem to have any place to work on repair scooters or to easily store ones that have been repaired and not picked up. Third they have a lot of new Genuine scooters in the store. Again I'll check with them on Tuesday and post what I find.
But all in all, it's been a fabulous year for Laura and me.

The store is going to be a scooter rental store where you can rent or buy a scooter. Not related to the other store on Passyunk. I was talking to the owner about buying one for my dog walking business. Nice guy,

Yeah, that sounds pretty cool. I had one years ago, but renting one would give me the opportunity to see if I'd still be into it.
He has some Yamaha's and a few Buddy type (Chinese) models that cost about a third of what Buddy's cost. Also some Mopeds. I think they will rent for like 70 a day but I did hear him mention an hourly rate. I think it's a great addition to the neighborhood. They seem really dedicated to the business and I think it will do well.
Count me in for a rental. That seems like a great addition.
Sweet =) Finally a place to rent temp transport. I bike (pedal) and have a motorcycle so probably won't be the most frequent customer but I'd do it a few times for the kicks. I think this is definitely great for people who are visiting the city traveling "lite" since we have a lot of things to be seem that are kind of spread apart but this way a visitor could check out many spots in one day on their own schedule.
Now I just wish that we had some sort of place that rents bicycles.
This what I could gather, The Scooter Store on E Passyunk is selling the scooters to the rental store. They will be 50cc with sort of a fluid drive so that there will be no learning curve with a clutch and transmission. Also with a 50cc scooter no M/C licence is required. I was also told that Old City will also have a scooter rental store but I didn't ask if it was the same owner. I don't think so. Philadelphia Scooters does have the rights for this area for their brands, so probably any sales from the rental stores would be used products.I wish them good luck and long warm spring and fall seasons.
