Septa site says: Normal [bus] service will resume on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010 at 5 AM.

Really????? Some of the streets are 8" too high, just packed snow and ice. Are the magic plows going to clear everything in the next six hours?

Well here's the 6:30AM lineup. No suburban buses running, so even though I could get to Paoli on Regional Rail, I couldn't make that final 3 miles to work on the 206.

Bus: The only routes running at this time are: 1, 14, 20, 21, 37, 42, 44, 52, 60, 66 (no Cottman trips), 70, C, G, R. We will post alerts as additional routes resume service. Suburban Routes are currently cancelled.

Broad Street Line: Express service suspended.
Is there any reason for that? You'd think they'd want to run as many trains as possible on the subways given a lot of buses are suspended.

My guess is manpower issues are playing a large role. SEPTA feels it can concentrate the operators who do show up on local trains, but doesn't have enough operators for express trains.

They put the express drivers on the Locals, thus making sure every stop is used.

Does anyone know what is going on with Trainview? Is it in beta stage or something? It seems like it never matches up when I check it. If it says on time it ends up late and a few times when I am running late and it says it is 10 minutes late, it ends up being 5 mins late.

I think it's directly tied into the same system that displays lateness at Suburban and Market East, so don't know why there would be a disparity. If the lateness is suddenly reduced, I believe it's because the system looks at where the train is, where it should be at that time, then gives a lateness. i.e. if it's at Temple University at 7:35 but should have been there at 7:30, it will say five minutes late, even if it can make up time getting to suburban because of the additional schedule padding, where it might only be 2 minutes late.

Default Rails not doing so well

Rails not doing so well, particularly the R6 Norristown which was suspended this evening, then resumed, now suspended again. Switch problems in north Philly seem to be the trouble. Yay, I may get another night off from work (the guy I'm supposed to relieve at 9:30 also depends on the R6.)

Regional Rail: Norristown (R6) service is currently suspended. No trains are operating at this time. Passengers should expect delays of up to 60 minutes on all lines due to signal problems. Chestnut Hill West (R8) train 9858 is cancelled. Media-Elwyn (R3) train 388 is cancelled. Wilmington-Newark (R2) train 9254 is cancelled.
