Default How to get to Hoboken from Philly?

I'm supposed to be visiting a friend who just moved to Hoboken. Since she has a parking spot in her apt building, she just drives so isn't completely sure how to use public transportation to get there. My family only has one car so I'm hoping to take public transportation from Philly.

Any suggestions? I asked googletransit, it looks rather challenging! If I can get CLOSE to Hoboken, she can probably pick me up somewhere.

Cheapest is probably a bus to NYC and then take PATH back out from there.

Yes bus or train to Penn Station then take PATH. There are other NJ Transit ways to do it but this is easier, faster and probably cheaper.

    - SEPTA to Trenton -> NJ Transit to Secaucus
    - Bus/Train to Penn St NYC -> PATH

Your best bet, price-wise and time-wise: To Trenton via SEPTA, then to Secaucus Junction via NJ Transit.

There she can pick you up, since it's literally on the other side of the hill from Hoboken. Even if she doesn't feel like it, there's trains from Secaucus to the middle of Hoboken.

I wouldn't go via Secaucus. Hoboken trains don't run often on weekends, and usually have long connection delays.

SEPTA-NJT to Newark Penn and PATH to Hoboken is your best bet.

Seconded. NEWARK Penn Station is the place to switch.

Can you get to Hoboken from Newark on PATH? I thought that was a different line.

Thanks -- I think this seems like the best way too. She said she'd pick me up in Newark.

Cheapest route would be Bolt Bus or Mega Bus to NYC, then subway and PATH to Hoboken.

Easiest/simplest would be SEPTA to Trenton, NJT from Trenton to Newark, PATH to Hoboken. If you've got the extra cash to swing it, Amtrak would be faster, more comfortable, and without the Trenton connection.

Yes (2 seats), and you can also take some NJT Coast Line and Raritan Valley trains, which is probably what you're thinking of. But they don't run weekends.

Note: I took Septa to Trenton and hopped on the NJTransit to Secaucus where my friend picked me up. Easy!! (except Route 9 got me to 30th street station late and I missed my Septa train and had to wait 50 minutes for the next one!!) Thanks for the tips.

Of course, the bumpy train trip HOME Sunday morning after a night out in Hoboken wasn't all that easy-- ! :-O
