The schools have been out for a few months but the early trains have been almost full and mid morning trains have been almost empty. I use the north bound train from Snyder in the morning and return about noon. When the schools are all open the trains probably will be SRO in the morning and FWIW the roads will also have more traffic. We'll see if I'm right next week.

The numbers come out soon, but the BSL ridership isn't that bad for a line that is only 40% built to what it supposed to be...

I wouldn't say empty but the off-peak trains are pretty light. However the London Underground is the only subway system I have ever been on where midmorning or eveing trains were frequently SRO. (CTA, SEPTA, NYC, DC Metro, Stockholm Metro just to name a few.)

Average weekday ridership on the BSL is about 135k to the El's 180k.

New Delhi's brand new metro system is already bursting at the seams. It's pretty much SRO most of the time, except during peak rush hours when it is "packed like sardines" room only.

Rush hour, particularly during the school year, is prime time for the line.

The BSL is technically overbuilt as it is now. The line was conceived as a trunk with various branches to other parts of the city that were never built. The El, I believe, runs at or very near capacity at peak.

The Subway was jammed this morning when I got on the northbound train at Tasker/Morris @ 8:10ish. SRO. Schools are open.

sadly the one thing that isn't part of sept's plan to reduce energy consumption on its 2.9-4 mpg buses is getting more people on the subway

They are building new double-decker subway cars -- that should help alleviate the overcrowding.

How would they fit a double decker car there? - am I not catching the sarcasm?
