Default SEPTA real time tracing works just well enough to be really frustrating

I can't be the only one that notices that not every bus or trolley shows up on this thing. I'll look up my route, the real time map will show the closest bus a being 15 minutes away, I'll step into a deli for coffee, and a bus will pass by while i'm no longer at the stop. I can't tell if buses are appearing/disappearing for a certain refresh of data out if certain buses never show up.

I know I shouldn't complain too much because at least they're trying, but it seems like the schedules are still the way to go.

I've used SEPTA Droid weregettingthere.com and the link on SEPTA's site (which I no longer see).

I'd hazard a guess that occasionally a transponder on a bus will fail, making it invisible to the tracking system.

Transitview is still on SEPTA's site, but you have to navigate to it via the System Status page:

    SEPTA | System Status

Select your route and in the resulting popup click on the transitview tab on the far right.

This has happened to me too. Usually I use Offi plus a tracker. If the bus looks really far away but is scheduled to arrive now, I wait 5 min or so and usually it comes. The SEPTA tracking sucks on mobile, weregettingthere.com is pretty good though. We need someone to make a better Android real-time tracking app, SeptaDroid seems to be abandoned.
