So since all the construction is going on underground SEPTA has added more signs to get around down there:

MSE platform?
I don't have one. I'm not running for anything.
I'm kinda flattered, I guess, that my handle is now well known enough that folks are substituting it for MFL (Market-Frankford Line) or its antecedent, MFSE (Market-Frankford Subway-Elevated). The acronym would have been truly accurate before 1922.
Anyway, there are provisions for newsstands at AT&T (nee Pattison) and Olney (as mentioned above) on the Broad Street Line and at 15th Street eastbound on the Market-Frankford Line. The two terminal stations on the Market-Frankford Line have spaces for several shops - in the lobby of FTC and in the concourses leading to the bus and trolley platforms at 69th Street Terminal. Most of the spaces at FTC are leased (including two newsstand spaces at the north entrance stair and north entrance mezzanine); about half the space at 69th Street either stands empty or has been converted to office use by SEPTA.

I have a quick question. I'm from Jersey and have started using PATCO about once a month when we come into the City to eat or to see a show. Generally we go to 8th and Market or get off near the Kimmel Center on the weekend during business hours more or less.
This weekend we're going to Maggiano's near the Redding Terminal Market. I've downloaded a map showing the concourse ped plan and by the looks of it, when we get off at 8th and Market we can walk indoors through the Gallery and come up near Market East at Filbert Street.
Is the Gallery open after hours so we can get back the same way? Dinner is at 7. Figure we'll be heading back around 10. Any suggestions if there's a better way to get there?
Thanks for taking the time help.
John
Who the hell would want to remain underground in this city?? Use your brain people. This is not the city to be walking underground for long periods of time because the criminals will rob you GOOD.
Walking through the Gallery's lower level is not an unpleasant experience at all, but the lower level closes when the rest of the mall does, so you can't use it to get back to 8th and Market after your dinner.
Your options at that time are either to walk down Market to 8th or walk down 12th to Locust and enter the PATCO concourses at those points.

Most of my nearly 30 years here were spent living in Center City, and I walk its streets - and subway concourses - every day.
I have never felt uncomfortable in the South 8th Street concourse, which I use often - in fact, I just used it tonight headed back to the El from my ex-roomie's place at 9th and Locust. Like most PATCO-maintained parts of the concourse network, it is clean and well-lit.

Just wanted to stay out of the weather. It's supposed to be nasty Saturday and I thought 8th and Market would be closer than 12/13th. Is that not so?
Thanks for all the advice. I'll have to check my maps again. We'll be with a group of people, so safety isn't really a concern. If it were just my wife and I, I'd brave the weather.
If I recall correctly, a lot of these tunnels underground were closed off and unused after a big name politican or businessman I think it was back in the 80s was murdered, correct?
