Default Tipping Bolt (and Megbus) drivers

Recently a friend of mine said she can't believe that people don't tip the drivers. I'm very good about tipping, but never thought I should be tipping them. I noticed yesterday that nobody else tipped either. Are we non-tippers wrong?

No, tipping a bus driver would be ridiculous. Maybe people do that on Atlantic City casino busses or something, but never on Greyhound/Boltbus/Megabus. Of course it is polite to give a brief "thanks" as you alight the bus.

Oh, I definitely thank them. (I even thank SEPTA drivers).

    From the Bolt Bus FAQ:

    What about your drivers?

We employ professional, highly trained drivers. We expect our drivers to carry themselves as professionals at all times and also be quick with a smile or a helping hand. Drivers are allowed to accept tips (for a job well done) however they are not allowed to solicit tips from passengers.

Ok, let's not start this, please. I've ridden Bolt & Mega countless times and have never seen anyone tip the driver. This is a trend that does not need to get started, if you ask me.

I'm not trying to start anything. I agree about not tipping, but just wanted to be sure I was correct. As far as the policy, it doesn't say you should tip, just that you can. Yesterday, I went with my sister and BIL. She is in a wheelchair, but can sit in a regular seat. The driver(s) put her wheelchair with the luggage. In situations like that a tip should be offered and my BIL did that. The driver going refused the tip. The one coming back accepted it (which was perfectly fine).

Tipping has just gotten nutty. My two favorites were:
The wawa cashiers on columbus blvd. tried to put a tip jar out. Corporate shut that down pretty quickly
Philyeo yogurt on south street has a tip jar-even though it is a self serve place! hahahaha
