I was a Bryant backer until he wore the Dodgers cap while at the NLCS last season. That was when I decided I had had it with him.

Agreed, he is a solid player and since a local product wish he was more connected with his roots and Philadelphia. He could have worn any other hat that day but chose to wear LAD and speak in support of the Dodgers over the Phils.

He was born in Philly, but his family didn't settle in the Philly area until the early '90s after his dad's basketball career ended. Kobe didn't grow up in the Philly area, and he doesn't have Philly roots.

In fact, he's been living in LA longer than he ever lived in the Philly burbs, so go figure, he's a Dodgers fan.

    Get over it.

By the way, this is no different than Donovan McNabb rooting for the Phils over the Cubs, but you'd probably get mad if Donovan wore a Cubs hat -- am I warm?

Bull. His family is from Philly. His dad went to LaSalle. The reality is Kobe is a Philly product. He left for a few years when his dad played in Europe.

Yeah, you're probably right. He's just a jerk who hates Philly for no reason. He roots for the teams that Philly teams are playing against just because he hates Philly so much.

Consider this: He's been a Laker and living in LA for 11+ years now, which is longer than he ever lived in the Philly area. He's the face of the Lakers franchise. Why shouldn't he root for other LA teams? We expect all Philly athletes to root for the other Philly teams, so why shouldn't LA fans expect the same of their athletes? (And please don't say, "What LA fans?")

Bryant is the second best player in the NBA. #1 = Allen Iverson.

Agreed. A very talented player, but a huge punk. He always came off as arrogant and with a sense of entitlement.

That day he wore the dodgers cap he told reporters he was a mets fan.

Kobe Bryant's always pissed me off for some reason.

I'm sure I'm not alone in that assessment.

Um, he was charged with felony sexual assault. Prosecutors eventually had to drop the charge because the victim decided not to testify. (Read: Kobe bought her silence.)

The civil case did press on, and they settled out of court.

As much as I think Kobe is a classless athlete this couldn't be further from the truth. Kobe is a huge Eagles fan and has talked about it often and always (unsuccessfully of course) predicts a Eagles SB win every season it seems.

Dude, if you think he was completely innocent, you're crazy.

The girl decided she didn't want to testify in the criminal case because he bought her silence.

She proceeded with the civil case and would have testified had they not settled.

It's hard to make the charges stick if the victim refuses to cooperate. It's not like the prosecutor decided that the victim's story wasn't credible.
