Default You think New England wish they had Matt Cassel back right now?

No, because one again, they ain't us..

NFL.com Blogs Blog Archive Brady: ‘I would have been booing us too’

Patriots QB Tom Brady finally made his way to the podium for his postgame news conference to share his thoughts on the franchise’s first home playoff lost since 1978. Brady spoke mostly in generalities about the season, but much of the focus on Sunday’s 33-14 loss was on mistakes — the Patriots made them, and the Ravens capitalized on them.

“Playing the way we played today, we’re not going to be beat anybody, more less a good football team,” said Brady, who suffered his first career home playoff loss.

Brady’s stat line wasn’t pretty, to say the least. He accounted for four turnovers — three interceptions and a fumble — of which three came during the first quarter, all leading to Baltimore scores. Brady completed 23-of-42 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns.

Brady was asked about the booing inside Gillette Stadium before the first quarter was even in the books, with the Patriots trailing 24-0.

“I would have been booing us too, the way we played,” Brady responded. “That’s their right. We just didn’t play well. You have to give those guys a lot of credit, they played well in all phases, and really took it to us.”

Brady began the season recovering from offseason knee surgery, and finished it with a number of reported ailments — including published reports he has been playing with broken ribs throughout the season. When asked if it was an appropriate time to divuldge those injuries, Brady sidestepped their significance, pointing out he managed to play in all 16 games and all players deal with injuries.

“I don’t want to get into all that. Whatever it is, we all have to overcome it. They certainly didn’t keep me from playing,” Brady said.

“The only way a quarterback can display toughness is to be out there. We don’t hit anybody, we don’t block, we don’t do any of that stuff. … I think injuries are a bunch of B.S. I just think, when you play, you play. And if you can’t play, you can’t play. But when you’re out there, you have to play at the level the team expects you to play. ”

No its the perfect comparison, as if NE keeps losing, he'll be right here too...

Remember, its all about what you do for me now if the NFL...Which is why teams collapse so much these days...

Okay do using that logic after 11 yrs with no SB McNabb should be gone, right?

Tom Brady just won Comeback Player of the Year. He had been the starting QB for 8 yrs (9 if you count 2008) and he has won 3 Superbowls and 2 MVPs. The difference Brady is clutch and comes through in the BIG GAMES. McNabb is the same player he was 11 years ago just a lot slower. Apples and Oranges comparison!

Yeah, which is why that logic doesn't work! It takes a team, and there are plenty of other parts that need fixing besides the QB and Coach parts.

When McNabb and Brady are close in stats, you gotta figure out what else could be fixed.

If McNabb and Brady switch places, we'd probably be talking the same story.

I don't think so. Brady is clutch in big games...McNabb is just not. During the SB years can you name any WRs Brady had - that are now #1 or #2 on another team? The defenses (not including this year) are on par. I just don't see how you could make the argument that the NE teams were that much better over the last 10 years then the Eagles.

Look at the list of guys who have won Comeback POY and tell me how significant that is. That's not so say Brady isn't an all-time great, he is. But comparing McNabb unfavorably to such a player does nothing to validate the idea that he should be run out of town. How many clutch playoff wins did the Eagles have in the 10 years pre McNabb?

McNabb is IIRC statistically the best QB that Philly has ever had. That being said, I don't think he'll ever win you a ring...his best chance was 2002.
A little nonsense, now and then, is relished by the wisest men.

It is said that recovery from ACL repair takes an average of 18 months. Because everything else Brady did bordered on superhuman, Pats fans may have expected him to get over it unrealistically fast too. I know McNabb-Brady is an apple-orange comparison, but remember McNabb sucked worse than Brady in his first year back from an ACL injury.

Plenty of elite quarterbacks have, for injury or other reasons, gone through periods of bad play but bounce back later. Expect Brady to be back.

I didn't make the comparison I said it was apples and oranges. The original OP at some point said McNabb would basically do as well as Brady in New England and I called BS on that asap! I don't think what Brady has done/or not done should apply to McNabb situation in any way. My issue with McNabb is for 11 years he has been the same guy making the same mistakes. With the JJ defenses in the past this city/team should have at least 1 SB or at least more trips to the SB. Why is this the only team in the NFC East without a SB win??

And so since there were no clutch playoff wins pre McNabb he should get a pass. I guess my expectations are just a little higher.
