Default The Search for the next Great Eagles Coach begins now....

Sources: Reid is fired as Eagles head coach

Reidís tenure with the Eagles ended almost 14 years to the day after Lurie hired an unknown quarterbacks coach from the Packers to replace Ray Rhodes after a 3-13 season in 1998.

With 14 years of service, Reid was the reigning dean of NFL coaches and fourth in service among head coaches in all four major leagues, behind Gregg Popovich of the Spurs (17 years), Lindy Ruff of the Sabres (15 seasons) and Barry Trotz of the Predators (14 seasons).

Reid, 54, is a three-time NFL Coach of the Year, winning the honor after the 2000, 2002 and 2010 seasons.

The first move Ė and perhaps the best move Ė Reid made was to use the second pick in 1999 to draft Donovan McNabb, and by 2000 the Eagles were off on a decade-long stretch of deep playoff appearances.

It's going to be incredibly hard finding another coach that has such grandiose personal problems, all while hiring convicts and problem players to rebuild a franchise filled with excuses.

Andy Reid didn't have head coaching experience before the Eagles hired him. Say what you will about his inability to win a Superbowl, but that hiring turned out pretty well for the Eagles. If you don't like that comp, neither did Sean Payton before the Saints hired him.

Yeah, HC experience means diddly squat if you don't have a good assistant coach line up, which is what Reid had at the peak of the Eagles successful run.

Which is why I laugh at all these other teams out there looking for a savior for their teams, when they have so many other issues that the coach had little to do with....(Hi Bears)

Because Lovie had nothing to do with hiring Mike Martz & Mike Tice as his OC's?

Wow. Eagle fans who want Manning's coordinator over Kelly deserve what they get.

He was also Orton's and Tebow's coordinator, and he actually managed to make them look good.

Does that mean he can take Vick with him?
