    Default Michael Vick

I realize Andy Reid and the linebackers/defense are big problems for the Eagles, but does anybody really believe they can win a Super Bowl with Michael Vick at QB? He's selfish, injury prone, stubborn, a poor leader and he's just not a very good QB. He's turnover prone, has a lot of passes tipped and he isn't getting any younger. When the Birds signed him to that huge contract, my first thought was "this is the biggest mistake this organization has ever made." I think I was right.
Listening to sports talk, it amazes me how many people make excuse after excuse for this guy and try to put him in the same class as Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. Michael Vick couldn't carry Tom Brady's jockstrap.

I largely agree with everything you say. What we have here is the tale of the two Vicks. The one for the 2010 season who lit it up for the most part and had, by far, the best season of his career. Then you have all the bad play and bad split second decision making since then. Everybody knew he wasn't going to be able to sustain the high performance from his first several games as an Eagles QB. Defenses and DCs would watch video and game plan better for him. What we're seeing now is more indicative of what Vick is really like. Any logically thinking observer would expect a decline, but Reid and his buddies were hoping for a small drop and not the collapse we've seen.

When all is said and done, I can only say this in Vick's defense: Of Kolb, McNabb, or Vick, Vick is the best QB right now. McNabb is ready to retire and Kolb is going to be a second stringer for the rest of his career.

He's selfish? What does that even mean?

Don't try to project your former Iverson hate onto Vick. Of course we can win a Superbowl with Vick, he's a great qb that runs our offense very well.

For each Super Bowl won by one of those guys, eight are won by Elite quarterbacks. Vick will only be here until the Eagles are able to get someone better.

Exactly how many games did Vick lose for the Eagles by his own action or inaction this year?

He's just as good as Eli, I don't care what anyone says.

Pocket passers win championships. Mike Vick is not a pocket passer, despite coaches' attempts to re-make him into one.

Funny thing is, until this year, I considered Eli a second tier QB. I thought 2007 was a fluke and Eli was an average starter who caught some lightning in a bottle and played with a lights-out defense that carried the Giants all the way to a Super Bowl victory. Well, in a quarterback driven league like the NFL, an "average" starter doesn't complete as many hurry up game tying or winning drives as Eli did and go on to win a second Super Bowl title. To win a Super Bowl, Vick would have to evolve from average to elite like Manning did. That kind of dramatic improvement by a QB at the mid-point of their career is rare. If the Eagles ever win a Super Bowl, I promise you Vick won't be the quarterback.

+1. He proved that again yesterday.

He flat out can not read a defense. Hopefully both Vick and AR will be gone at the end of this season.

Eli won "just" two Superbowl MVPs. He "only" beat one of the greatest QBs ever -- twice -- in final drives. I'd take Vick or McNabb "any" day. McNabb/Vick > Eli > Brady. I'd also take a couple "wiz wits" with that.

Jesus, guys, step back from the ledge.

It was his first real game action since last season. He basically missed the entire preseason. It might take a game or two to get up to speed. At least they got the "W."

The Eagles organization is classless, as is the entire NFL. I realize I will be tried for heresy here for my opinion, but the guy is a convicted felon. He would have trouble getting a job at a supermarket these days but he can be the face of an NFL franchise? What he did was grotesque. Pete Rose has been banned from the HOF for betting.

Michael Vick served his sentence, I don't like him, but I am in no position to deny another man the right to work. Regardless, he's a mediocre quarterback, always has been.

Vick better be prepared to have his sorry a** thrown on the ground A LOT this Sunday. The Ravens defense is one of the best in the league.

I agree with everything Geno stated, but I do not think that is the point of this thread.

But yeah, he's a mediocre quarterback, more suited to running the Wishbone on a flunky college team. I do not think he can comprehend/process the complexity of a decent NFL defense.

He definitely served his sentence, I'm not denying that. I am just saying however that in professions where character matters his career would be over. In the NFL, character does not matter.

I don't think character matters anywhere anymore... Bill Clinton proved that.
