Reports: Richards, Carter traded
According to reports, the Flyers have dismantled their team, trading captain Mike Richards to the Kings and leading goal-scorer Jeff Carter to the Blue Jackekts.
The Richards trade is being reported by TSN. The Flyers would get forwards Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds.
Carter's agent, Rick Curran, confirmed the Columbus deal this afternoon to the Associated Press.
The Flyers will received the Jackets' first-round pick (eighth overall), third-round pick and forward Jake Voracek.
The trade opens up salary-cap space for the Flyers, who are negotiating with goalie Ilya Bryzgalov. The trade also could free up space for the Flyers to re-sign Ville Leino.
Carter led the Flyers in goals each of the past two seasons. Voracekk, a first-round pick in 2007, had 14 goals and 32 assists this season.
