Default Eagles game delayed till Tuesday at 8.

The Minnesota Vikings-Philadelphia Eagles game scheduled for Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m. ET has been moved to Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. ET, the NFL announced.

“Due to public safety concerns and uncertainty of snow emergency in Philadelphia tonight, Vikings-Eagles game has been postponed til Tuesday night,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said via his Twitter account.

So if they had just left it at 1pm like it was scheduled, it would have been a hell of a game. How is it that the NFL thinks 8:20 on a Sunday night is prime time anyway.

Nutter had nothing to do with it..the NFL and the Eagles want their MONEY.

And an empty stadium is no win $$$ scenario they didn't want. Specially for a game that matters....

The tickets were already sold. Believe me, everyone who had a ticket was getting their ass to tonight's (supposed) game, by hook or by crook, snow or no snow.

Nutter was probably happy to force the Vikings to stay two extra days in Philly.

and that was the problem...stupid people would try to drive in this, cause accidents, mess up snow clearing, put emergency personel at risk.

I was hoping to see a snow game but they probably made the right call. I had to drive from Princeton to Philly around 2pm today and it was pretty rough driving.

I wish the game would have been moved to Monday. The Eagles are going to have an extremely short week to prep for the Cowboys the following week. They could have played at 5:30pm on Monday, but I know that TV ratings make all NFL decisions.

Then why do Buffalo, New England, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Chicago, etc. have football games in similar conditions with little or no problems? It makes Philadelphia look like a pathetic city that can't manage a snow storm. Are we a bunch of southern belles? "Heavens, I believe I see a snow flake. Run for the hills!"

The NFL has gotten softer with the more domed stadiums they build.

As an interesting side note, this may be the first time in NFL history that games will be played on four consecutive days.

I don't think any of those cities have played games in this type of storm, There is a difference between snowstorm and Blizzard...One can kill....

If the Giants were at home, their game would have been postpone too, BTW...

Oh, how soon we forget. The greatest football game in recent history was played in blizzard conditions.

Totally lame. They'll play a Phillies game with just a short break for tornadic activity and a friggin' World Series game in a cold wet mud puddle, but postpone football due to threat of snow.

That does it. I'll be launching a new pro football league where weather, roof collapses, and helmet-to-helmet collisions are never spoken of. In fact, players will be penalized if they fail to use an exotic UFC move to bring down the QB. We might even allow knives and firearms.

So the numbers are in what happen during 7PM and 1AM last night:

*7 inches of snow fell in Philadelphia(Which averages to around 1 1/2 inch of snow an hour, as it didn't start till 8PM)

    * Several wind gust of 40MPH recorded.

    * Wind Chill drop the temperature to 4 degrees by 10PM.

Now imagine thousands of cars added to that.

And that World Series game in a cold wet mud puddle mess was one of the low points of the MLB, specially when they allowed the Rays to come back and then stop the game...

I agree the conditions were bad. I had to drive around 4pm & they were pretty bad with the snow coming down heavy (PA turnpike was terrible fwiw). But the game shouldn't be being played on Tuesday. That's absurd. You telling me that was the worst storm in history for 60 years of NFL??

It's all about tv ratings due to it being a national game but either it should have been moved to 4pm, which really wouldn't have helped, or done on Monday Night at 7pm, with the ESPN game pushed to 9pm like they used to be. Sure there would be an overlap but I'm sure the TV contracts have conditions in them due to "Natural Causes" & extenuating circumstances. Roger Goodell just chose to bend over backwards to NBC & ESPN to give them what they want.

They should call Tuesday's game "The Panty Bowl."

Really, I've never seen such disgust over what I term a trivial matter. You would think postponing the game was the end of the world to some people.

Buffalo, New England, Cleveland, Chicago all suffer from insane snowfalls and are adequately prepared for that type of Snow Removal. Philly is not. Its not about being weak/sissy....but we are in a city that from a meteorlogical standpoint doesn't receieve the same amount of snow and therefore the public and the city isn't prepared for it.

Hell, milwaukee, which is half the size of philadelphia, probably has 10x the number of snow removal and salting vehicles than philadelphia. And the snowstorm from yesterday would not have caused even a hiccup. They would be running those plows like it was going out of style. Philadelphia just isn't a snowey town, so when we get hit with a storm, we get shutdown.

I think it was probably smart to cancel the game for the safety of all.
