    Default Favorite Listing?

So, I know we all have our sources, but what have you come across (home listing) that just tugs at your heart strings?

For me, it was this house in Manayunk. I hate Manayunk, but I love these Gothic Revival houses (I think that's what they're called) in the NW part of the city, and this one has an incredible, private terrace/yard. It needs a bit of work, and could stand to be opened up, but it looks like a great buy to me:

I have no idea, it's just fun once in a while to look up the most expensive places, largest square footage, etc...

Yes, that's the one. I think it was a convent at one time. Fabulous, isn't it? And if I call correctly, the cost of its real estate taxes was a real steal!

Nah, this is not Fumos home. Great place though! (prop taxes are only $7,986.35 - what a joke)

that's the "Sixth Sense" house. It's been cut up into crappy apartments, unfortunately.

It's not Fumo's. It's across the street from Fumo's. It's the Bergdoll Mansion. It was the home of the family that owned the Bergdoll brewery. It has been chopped up into apartments and it had a pretty bad fire about 10 years ago, destroying a lot of the stained glass windows on the first floor.

That's an incredible house, but not only would you have to set aside $7,000,000 to buy it, you probably need to set aside at least $1,000,000/yr for upkeep.

Not to mention aspirin for the headaches you'd get with all the ornateness.

Not to mention the wardrobe upgrade, you would have to "dress" for dinner after all.

    328 N 39th St, Philadelphia, PA 19104 MLS# 5827374 - $475k

We visited the open house out of curiosity - a very nice restoration. I don't see them getting anywhere near that asking price, though.

No curb appeal, at least for me, although the interior looks nice. I agree that it's WAAAAY overpriced.

Interesting...this house was pretty badly damaged by fire a few years back. The street view still shows the boarded up windows. 3XX N 39th Street

The fire couldn't have been that bad judging by the photos of the renovation. The price is very optimistic for West Powelton.

What are the boundaries of Powelton, "West Powelton", and Mantua?

Is West Powelton a "made up" name, or is it an established neighborhood name-place?

I'm sure the name was made up at some point, but the West Powelton Concerned Community Council (WPCCC) has acted as the Civic Association in that area for many years.

Powelton Village is bounded by Spring Garden on the North and Lancaster Avenue on the West.
    W. Powelton is bounded by Haverford on the North, Lancaster on east, Market on South, and 44th on West.
Mantua is North of both. Oddly enough, the maps used by Trulia are shockingly accurate.

you can tell from the photos these people had a full life. internet search reveals the owners were a prominent dentist and his wife. I like how he just shoved all his honorary plaques on the desk and hung artwork on the walls instead - a class act.
