It was the first model. The first model of the Corvette was pretty lame. The transmission had 2 gears Hi & Low. And R.

What do you mean? People can just paint it like non stainless steel with paint.

...but still one of the prettiest cars ever built.

If I had my choice, unless it was a brand new ZR1, I'd go with a first-gen Corvette all day long over any other. Also in love with the split windows and the 1969.

Ok...so I would like one from almost every generation (except the C4s...)

All DMCs were stainless steel, unless they're coming out of DMCTX that way these days.

OK, what I read on some blog was that Delorean had the first DMC painted but the deal with the paint company fell through for production. Apparently, some people paint their DMC's, maybe they paint them once a year.

Also, according to Wikipedia: Several hundred DMCs were produced without stainless panels, for training workers, and are referred to as "black cars" or "mules", in reference to their black fiberglass panels instead of stainless, though these were never marketed.

Also, apparently under the stainless steel is a fiberglass body. So it would seem conceivable that one could replace the body panels without the stainless steel covering.

Now I know as much about these shiny pieces of metal as I ever wanted.

Deloreans are awful cars, but the stainless panels are pretty cool. Painting them is just turrrble.
