Looks sort of like a Leica style. Seems like a good concept.

I really want a Leica M8.2 and it might be my xmas present to myself.

For those of you that want a Leica but a "limited edition" Leica heres a white one that apparently cost $10,000.

I was always a Nikon person but the Leica size was tempting. The SLR and a zoom lens was awkward to carry and not get it damaged in the process. It was easy to see the advantage of the Leica size (and quality) to have a camera with you every day. IMHO the white Leica is ugly.

I've been wanting a digital range finder ever since I sold my film one a few months back. Love the M8....but you could buy a lot of other photo gear for the same price.

$800 isn't bad (B+H listing for EP-1) but for $700 you could get the red dot D-Lux-4. Still think the LX3 is a better value, if you can find one. although webcam does have some in stock.

You can get a D-LUX 4 for a little cheaper than that. There are two things that separate the D-Lux 4 and the LX3. First you can upgrade the D-Lux 4's warranty to 3 years for free online compared to the LX3's one year. The second is for those who shoot jpeg, the D-Lux 4 jpeg's are the best I have ever seen in a compact camera and even in most dslrs.

true, but since the lx3 is half the price (almost) you could technically buy a second LX3 if it should crap out after the warranty for the same price as the Leica

but I know what you mean.

haven't seen the jpg output but I don't doubt that the quality from the Leica is tops in it's class. I was really hoping the EP1 would come in under the Leica in price. but then again i can't believe the recent burst in lx3 popularity. it's been on my wish list for months and was in stock everywhere, now seems it's hard to come by. since the LX3k has come out the used prices of the lx3 haven't dropped at all. assuming you can find someone willing to part with it.
