Default Investors for bars and restaurants

I am trying to connect with investors interested in investing in a bar management company. Rather than each person put up thousands of dollars the goal is to leverage a large group with a small $1000 investment. Does anyone know of any groups or contacts to make this happen?

I would be a little careful if I were you. It sounds like what you're selling (passive interests in a bar management company) is a security. Securities must be registered or must meet an exemption from registration. Only broker/dealers are licensed to sell a security.

This reminds me of a story I heard on the local public radio station on a program called The Story by Dick Gordon. Except for the part that the guy trying to raise some investment money already owns his restaurant and since a large investor walked out on him (perhaps due to the bad economy), he ended up turning to this customers to raise the cash.

The Story almost always has very interesting interviews, and this one is no different. Check it out:

A New Life After the War — The Story from American Public Media

It's the second one (each hour-long show has two stories, generally).

Good luck in this endeavor. Hopefully everything's legal and above board, and it's a good way for locals to invest in the local economy.

There is a bar owner in Philadelphia that tried this once and it turned out to be a nightmare.
