Default Occupy Philly is now a marketing campaign

    THE REVOLUTION NEVER STOPS
    OCCUPY DOCK STREET

The only way to take a stand is to start costing them money! Starting December 21th and every Wednesday thereon, Dock Street Brewery will not pay out to the One Percent.
Every time you make a payment with your credit or debit card, businesses have to pay fees to the credit card companies. Operating on a cash-only system allows us to keep the money in the pockets of the 99%. This is why Dock Street Brewery will not accept credit or debit cards on Wednesdays. Since we aren’t paying credit card fees we will pass that saving on to you . We will give everyone a 3% discount…. just for using cash. All day and night, everything will cost 3% less AND you will be keeping the movement alive!

One of the most recent issues to affect Occupy Philly is the eviction from City Hall. As free thinkers, we realize the value of a space to convene and arouse momentum. Occupiers and Supporters, come take warmth in a beer at Dock Street. Leave your credit Cards home and make a statement. Hit them where it hurts!

Why don't they refuse credit cards every day then?

Well then the benefit of advertising would probably be overtaken by the cost of lost business. Therefore making this honesty-ambivalent marketing scheme counterproductive. Why stand for values if it just ends up hurting you, after all.

ETA I wonder what their supply chain looks like. I'm not speaking from any stance of knowledge here but as long as they are doing this, they should include in the advertising their lack of bank based financial support, and their use of only small suppliers.

I wonder if they built the business with no bank loans or credit cards.

Really? I highly doubt that. I mean he probably is part of the 10-15%, but probalby not the one percent. i'm so tired of the binary nature of all issues in this country. Its like you're either in the 1% or not? That such a simplistic, truly american way to look at things.

And Mr. Loveisnoise, I am not directing this post at you, but more so at this stupid 1% crap that I've had to listen to for the past 8 months. Yes, there is a massive wealth inequality in this country, but its not only perpetrated by the top 1% and I think its disingenous to villify just them.

You are very correct-the '1%' fascination is idiotic because most people don't realize that they are talking about their friends and possibly themselves.

She is part of the 1%. In 2009, i.e., it only took $340k to be in the 1%'er league.
