Default Looking for New Place to Board in the City

So, I used to take Winston to Doggie World when I went on vacation. I liked the fact that he would be in their "daycare" during the day, running around and not in a kennel. Particularly because I do, once or twice a year, go away for 2 or more weeks at a time. (I also liked the fact that they had Sunday and evening pick up and drop off times).

Well, so long Doggie World. Now I need a new option -- preferably someplace like Doggie World, where Winston won't be in a kennel all day.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks all.

We just boarded our dogs at The Philadelphia Pet Hotel down by the airport. Home | Philadelphia Pet Hotel & Villas
It's a hike for most, but convenient if you're hoping on a plan and we liked it. They offer group or private play for the dogs and don't require a bunch of crazy vaccinations. Oh and you can also upgrade to a "villa" with a queen size bed and tv that plays animal shows, lol!

Has anyone ever boarded for the day or overnight at Central Bark? If so what did you think?

Honestly i just prefer to hire a dog sitter or hopefully a friend. But i have little dogs that love to be with humans. That's why i got them so rather than stress them out alone in a kennel.. if i had crate trained big dogs the place by the airport i've heard is awesome!

Yes, I looked into there, but dogs are kenneled for most of the day, with limited play time (which is the traditional model of boarding). What I liked about Doggie World is that during the day, the dogs are "let loose" in the daycare area to run around (or not run around) as they see fit, and are kenneled only at night. That's what I'm hoping to find again.

They also run a day care there so you can pay extra to have your dog participate.

Best Friend's in Pennsauken is a quick ride over the Betsy Ross Bridge. They've always been good to my dog. Staff is very friendly and they even email you pictures of your pet while away!

The thirteen years of experience gives us the confidence needed to take care of the dogs, it doesn't matter how diversified is the pack.
We run a clean, safe and climate controlled environment. The 1700 sq ft play area give the dogs plenty of room to run, exercise and have fun. Although we think all the dogs need to learn how to socialize regardless of breed, temperament or size, Paws@Play has a separate room for small, shy and older dogs.
Being small gives us a chance of giving individual attention to the dogs, attending to minor grooming issues by instance,, besides getting to know them well enough to alert the parents if something is wrong.
Bring you dog(s) for a visit, we guarantee you both will love it.

There just aren't a lot of boarding places in the city itself. Most are in the 'burbs. I'm most likely going to board my dogs at Camp Bow Wow in Cherry Hill in September. (Don't take this as a personal endorsement, as I haven't yet checked it out for myself, but "on paper," it seems nice.)

I go to the Barker Lounge in Folson, Pa..It is an exit south of the airport so even though it is a hike, it's convenient for hopping on a plane. My dogs love it there! They play all day with the other dogs and the staff is very good with them.
