Wheatens! My family dog growing up when I was allergic to dog fur (b/c Wheatens have hair not fur for everyone else). I love Groovehound on Frankford at Dauphin. Gert is great, cheap and my dogs seem to not dislike going there as much as other places. She took care of poodles in the "show cut" recently for a friend and did an amazing job, I hear.

She'll also do what you want and not force you to do the show cut, as some of our groomers did growing up. We didn't dig the fur over the eyes or the long beard on our Theo--got in the way of ball playing and soup eating--but we ran into many grooming nazis that refused to trim it.

Honestly, I can't exactly remember what I pay but it's about half of what I paid at the place on Liberties Walk at the time (Chez Bow Wow). I'm thinking I may pay around $100 with tip for 2 dogs--but one doesn't get cut. He does take about 30 minutes to brush though I know. (He's a short wired hair dog that sheds...a lot.) I like that the money stays local as well...and that Gert rescues dogs and really cares about them.
