Could just be a seasonal allergy with a minor infection. I think that's what I had a couple of weeks ago.

We had a really nasty head cold that ripped through my kids' school and landed at home in the last month - no much fever, but a nasty headache, congestion and a lingering cough, along with general fatigue and feeling like hell for a few days. It was a lulu.

I haven't seen any sign of the H1N1 boogeyman in out part of the city, despite our pediatrician's assurance that it is everywhere.

I saw a news report that the rhino virus (common cold) has been especially brutal around here the past couple of months. So much so that it was being misdiagnosed as swine flu.

Ill this fall? Maybe it wasn't swine flu after all | Philadelphia Inquirer | 11/12/2009
For all of it's flaws, philly.com has useful information.

I thought I had swine flu about two weeks ago, but after having read an article about the bad cold going around(forget where), I think I actually had the cold. It was pretty rough and knocked me out of commission for almost a week, with lingering symptoms for another full week afterward.

Both of my kids did have H1N1 (confirmed at CHOP) a few weeks ago. Our pediatrician said today at our follow-up that the number of calls regarding it has gone down.

We all had a combo of cold and stomach "thing" a few weeks back. My version lasted 10 days. Felt like I was run over by a bus. We passed it back and forth and some poor family members got it twice....no fevers though

The cold that laid us low did have a stomach component, apparently - we all were a bit unsettled, though I have heard other people were really affected by the stomach part.

My daughter has been fighting this weird virus since Friday. She has had a low grade fever, runny nose, terrible cough, and headaches. It goes away for a day with no fever and then it comes back the next. It's very odd. She's sluggish and a bit miserable as well.

this am, no fever and she's a bit more herself...so, off to preschool she went hoping i don't get THE CALL.
I, on the other hand, am still feeling it...feels like a sinus infection but prob a very bad cold...or both. the hot and cold sweats are awful though! really need a good night sleep. called my dr at Jefferson and can't get in today....tomorrow am i have to go...was hoping to avoid the germ filled waiting room

That was my daughter yesterday so I sent her to pre-K. She ended up with a fever later in the day. Ugh. This morning no fever.

Best wishes to your kiddo and you. I freaking hate sinus infections. Get yourself a neti pot and flush your sinuses!

My son had that for about 5 - 6 days a week or so ago.

I had H1N1 and had the symptoms between the 2nd and I started to feel better the 6th but I've had bronchitis between then and now. It's really starting to affect me this week... My throat is closing up and I'm wheezing and feeling like crap at night. Just hoping it's going away ASAP.

I may be wrong boxgirl, but isn't this your daughter's first year in day care? You'll be amazed by all the illnesses your kid will bring home that first year.

That's for damned sure - daycare is more virulent than the most nefarious bio-weapons lab. If there is a pandemic that wipes out humanity, you can be sure it will start not in some Southeast Asian farm, but some suburban daycare center.

I was sick for five years while my kids went through daycare and Pre-K.

My son had this a few weeks ago. It lasted about three days..then the fever passed. Everythign else passed but his headaches were BAD. Took a week to get over it.

I also had the ten day cold.

Today is day 6 and she had a fever today. So far the trend is every other day for the fever. This blows
