Archdiocese hands over school management to independent foundation

Philadelphia Archdiocese is giving its high schools and special education schools to a recently formed private foundation. Main goals of this seem to be fundraising, increasing tax credits obtained and cutting costs through things like cyber classes offered at 11 schools.

I can only imagine that the tax advantages to rich donors will be greater under this foundation. Perhaps it is an attempt to stop the hemorrhaging attrition methods used in the past to close all inner city schools in favor of the burbs. It may also be a way to divert power from the cult like figures of Doctor McCarron types from becoming so firmly entrenched in the education bureaucracy with their limited vision in the future. In any case it does nothing for my childhood parish school and high school now closed.

The Archdioese made the wrong decision when keeping those four high school's open.

I'll speak of the H.S I'm familiar with,
West Catholic- Less than 350 people were enrolled there. That's the amount of an elementary school.
Bonner Prendie- 600 people?

West Catholic students could have easily rode the el to 15th street and go to roman,

Bonner- Could Have taken route 101, and be right at o'hara or carrol
