With 45% fewer students served by Phila School District summer school programming, many families will have a harder time feeding their kids this summer.
The Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger has partnered with the PSD, the City of Phila, Dept. of Parks and Recreation, and Archdiocese to help recruit and publicize free summer meal sites for kids 18 and under. The Coalition's Philly Summer Meals Hotline (1-855-252-MEAL), is a toll-free hotline that helps families locate some of the nearly 1000 sites throughout the city. Families can also text “MEAL” to 84700 or visit our website (Welcome | Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger) for more information.
In addition, through the Coalition's SNAP hotline, 215-430-0556, households can apply for Food Stamps, and receive referrals to other food resources such as pantries, farmers' markets, and meal delivery for the homebound.
Please feel free to share with anyone who might be interested. We appreciate any help in getting the word out to help connect residents of Philadelphia, Chester and Bucks Counties with these resources.
