Default We dont need to look to Harrisburg, for all the $ blame.

    2012TaxDelinquency

Instead of Harrisburg, maybe we should ask our neighbors: these Philadelphians (and people who are making money from owning property in Philadelphia) why they dont feel they need to contribute to our City, why they don't feel obligated to comply with the tax laws that will fund better schools for our kids.

and i dont mean the unfortunate folks who are in gentrified areas, priced out of their ability to pay taxes...

    Default and just for fun

search on the name "Universal". How does ol' Kenny get so much tax money for his pet projects, when several of his organizations are in so many years and thousands of dollars in arrears. This is sickening.

I get that the SDP has been bleeding money for years thanks to corruption and incompetence. I get that it's hard to stomach forking over more money when you know a decent fraction will end up wasted. As a taxpayer I really get it.

What I don't get is how de-funding public education is supposed to solve the problem.

My post has nothing to do with the School District of Philadelphia organization. My post is about how the funds are HERE, and don't need to come from Harrisburg.

The link shows the Philadelphians and Corporations who owe tax money to Philadelphia. Tax money that needs to be spent to improve schools in Phila. We have the money in the City, it's just that as this link shows, a lot of Philadelphians are not paying it and taking care of their own children.

Ah true, looks like I jumped the gun a bit. The delinquent property tax issue is the favorite distracting shiny object of the Corbett apologists, so I assumed this was another one of "those" threads.

they are not defunding education. They are trying to limit the waste. SDP has always been "underfunded" as far back as I can remember and always mismanaged money ( welcome to philly!!).
I support the restructuring the entire school district and hope that it helps. On the other hand, city property tax payers are still leaving the city and it refuses to or can't go after those who are still in the city and not paying their share.
