Default Donate your Recyclebank points to city schools!

The maximum points that can be donated to any one project is 500. Philadelphia School District Recyclebank project schools include:

Henry C. Lea Elementary, John Story Jenks Elementary, Anna Howard Shaw Middle School, C. W. Henry Elementary, James Rhoads Elementary, John Bartram High School, South Philadelphia High School and WB Saul High School

Want to earn more points to donate? With the Green Your Seasons Challenge, you can earn up to 300 additional points. Other point gaining opportunities are available throughout the Recyclebank website (often connected with advertisers, fyi).

Don't have Recyclebank? Sign up here and get 300 points to start. The donation period goes until March 15th, enough time to get set up and accrue points.

Please consider donating your points to district schools in our city. Recyclebank will match whatever funds generated, making it easier for schools to reach their funding goals and also allowing for the possibility of schools receiving twice as much funds as requested, money direly needed in this season of mid-year budget cuts.

If you click on the links, you'll see the project that each school is trying to fund: recycling programs and education, gardens, planting of fruit trees etc. Every 250 points donated earns $1 for the project which Recyclebank will match.

Do you have any idea how a school can be listed? I would love to see my kids school on the list- perhaps they could reinstate the after scool programming that was just taken away as Ackerman et al. sang all the way to the bank.
    Bitter? a bit

The Recyclebank Green Schools grant application for the spring 2012 is closed. I would look out for the next round of grants for fall 2012 and in the interim donate points to other schools' projects (you have plenty of time to earn more). The grants can only be used for specific green-related categories so your after school programming may or may not be eligible.

PM me your email and I will send you the grant application for this round for reference (but it may be slightly different in the next round).

Thanks for passing this along - I have more Recyclebank points than I know what to do with, so this is a nice way to use them.

Macdaire, I got your message and tried to reply but your Inbox seems to be full. PM me your email address so I can send the application - I can't send an attachment through the Philadelphia Speaks message system.

    Freckles, thank you!!!

I received word from Recyclebank that the 500 point maximum per project is a mistake that they are in the process of fixing (though points donated to other Philly district schools are certainly not wasted!). The contest goes until March 15th so plenty of time to save up more points and donate again! You can earn more points through the Recyclebank website too with things like this:
Recyclebank and The Green Your Seasons Contest: Recyclebank
    and this:

The 500 point maximum error has been fixed and Recyclebank point donations to Green Schools projects are now unlimited! You can now donate as many points as you want to Recyclebank projects here:

Recyclebank Green Schools: Henry C. Lea Elementary
Recyclebank Green Schools: John Story Jenks Elementary
Recyclebank Green Schools: Anna Howard Shaw Middle School
Recyclebank Green Schools: C. W. Henry Elementary
Recyclebank Green Schools: James Rhoads Elementary
Recyclebank Green Schools: John Bartram High School
Recyclebank Green Schools: South Philadelphia High School
Recyclebank Green Schools: WB Saul High School

The contest goes until March 15th so please consider continuing to donate as you accumulate more points. Thanks for supporting neighborhood schools in Philly!

Congrats to all the schools! At a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday at Lea Elementary with Deputy Mayor Richard Negrin and Streets Commissioner Carena Tolson, Recyclebank announced that Coca-Cola Live Positively has stepped in to fund schools that missed their target grant goal and make their green project ideas a reality. Thanks to everyone that donated Recyclebank points!
