Default Panel - Governing the School District of Philadelphia: Do We Have the Right Model?

Thought people might be interested in this panel. It's going to include an actual teacher, student and parent from the Philadelphia School District in addition to the usual talking heads.

Don't forget this week! Should be an exciting panel on an important topic.

You need a panel discussion for, "Do we have the right model?"

I'll save you an hour and fifteen minutes.

    "No, we don't."

    Thank you very much.

When will you be having the discussion, "What is the right model?" I'll show up for that one.

From the flyer since you seem to have missed it (emphasis mine):
Join Elmer Smith, parents, students, educators, advocates and community leaders for a panel discussion
of how our school district should be governed. Listen and talk about the advantages and challenges of
different governance models—Elected? Appointed? Local? State? Combination? Something completely
    different?
    Hope to see you there!

The school district's problem -- as with Philadelphia's housing agencies, judiciary, tax authorities, sheriff's office and all the others, I'm sure -- is one of political culture. For a lot of reasons, there is a lot of tolerance for bad management.

Correct. Even though the governments seem to build structures to help facilitate poor government, the problem is the voters keep supporting the elected officials that build these systems.
