"It is estimated that there are approximately 1.1 million persons living with HIV in the United States, over 19,000 people living within Philadelphia. With an average of 1,200 new infections annually, the HIV rate in Philadelphia is 5 times the national average and the highest north of Washington D.C. One out of every 50 Philadelphia African Americans is HIV+. So, we have a long way to go in helping people understand how and why to protect themselves from sexually transmitted infections."
