    Default Masterman vs. GAMP

My kid is conditionally admitted to both GAMP and Masterman. Obviously, they have different emphasis in the curriculum. Are there any factors I could consider as well?

Transportation: GAMP has Yellow Bus service thru to 8th if you reside outside the limit, Masterman affords nothing other than Public Transy (but I'm told, the families really work well together with carpooling and groups that take the same public transit). Both great schools, congratulations!!!!!

While Masterman does not provide yellow buses, kids can get free transpasses if they live far enough away.

Does GAMP assure that all middle schoolers can go to the high school? Masterman does not. GAMP is known for music. While Masterman is primarily known for academics, I thought they did a great job with music with some wonderful vocal and instrumental teachers.

How competitive is your child? A lot (not all) Masterman kids are quite competitive academically.

    Lots to consider. Good luck!

Either of these MS will not guarantee admittance into their HS, however both do a wonderful job preparing their MS students to apply at the best of our Public High Schools.

Uniforms: Gamp Yes, Masterman No (but they have a dress code policy).

Obtain a concise and up to date offering of extra curricular activities/sports/programs from each of the schools, I'd call for this as websites tend to meld MS and HS offerings.

Hey Coconut, on your letter does it give any information on how you reply, my friend's child was accepted into GAMP but that's all that is on this letter, this is completely different than the one for HS which must be mailed back in to finalize the process of admission.

(Masterman was a denial for reason of school overcrowding, I'd imagine that means she met criteria but they are out of seats, wild but nice to know so many of our students are worthy isn't it?!)

Interesting, I photocopied her letter so she had a copy of it (I only know of the HS process and retained a copy of ours before mailing the origional back) and there was nothing on that side, but I will advise her to do this, thank you!!!!
