Default Women freeze eggs to wait for 'Mr Right'

I guess for some it will not be enough to freeze their eggs for "Mr Right" because it will take hell freezing over as well....

Women in their late 30s are freezing eggs because they are still hunting for "Mr Right", research suggests.

why shouldn't they wait for the right guy? better they should get themselves knocked up by some loser because "time is running out?"

i like to see people taking control of their situations.

Not sure why some seem to be taking it so personally. It was tongue-in-cheek. I have no qualms with people waiting for who is right for them...as a male who would only want kids if I was with the right person and in the right situation it is the most responsible and prudent thing to do IMO.

This doesn't however explain away those who keep rigid score cards and write up unrealistic scripts and thus live a life of solitude unnecessarily. There is somebody in my office like that and I mean she is extreme.....the joke was directed at such individuals not those who are intelligent and responsible enough to understand that bringing another life in the world is not some frivolous decision...especially these days and what we face economically/socially going forward. I expect the birth rate in the US to plummit in the coming years as a result..but mostly among white "professionals."

It already is, & in northern Europe too. People should stop procreating, there are way too many humans already.
People accuse me of being overly competitive. I'm not. I'm the most non-competitive person in the world. No one even comes close.

why do you care? surely the lonely life she leads will punish her enough for what you think is her unreasonably high standards. on the other hand for that person hitching herself to someone who doesn't meet them...would probably make 2 people miserable.

i have a friend who froze her eggs...she didn't have unreasonably high standards, just couldn't find a decent guy and was tired of the anxiety. i think it's great that women have these options.

Why do you care? You are not the one on a daily basis that has to listen to her. If you did I'm sure you wouldn't be as holier than thou. When I say extreme I mean extreme to the point she is so desperate she goes around talking about it to everybody whether they want to hear it or not..

And I agree it is best she stays on her own rather than project 40+ years of not getting laid onto some poor sap...

I posted it as clarification and as an example. It's a personal primary source example to the related debate (which one has in a forum) about some women having unrealistic expectations. Men are not excluded from the phenomena but the topic is on female reproduction and sociological barriers..some of which are self-induced. I'm not interested in a circular argument among the Sisterhood of the Travelling pants. If you like to lay out the parameters of the discussion please go ahead and do so...

This is not meant personally toxigal.

But with the problems associated with raising kids without fathers, this logic scares me.

It seems to say that men are not important as parents....

Again, not an attack against you, as it sure seems that many women agree with you.

I admit, I figure that if a woman hasn't had children by a cetain age, it is for reasons of other choices...

    Career being one.
Not having a relationship being another.

So what do mother's say to their kid?

I wanted a child, but didn't want a man around?
Or, I didn't meet someone I liked, but still wanted children?

Well I would say kids with bad fathers or mothers for that matter is not something the world needs either. Peers, parents, role models are all important in the sociological development of children.

I thought that was very clear by my post.

I simply used a quote, and said it was not personal.

Wasn't directed at you. You asked a legitimate question and how the discussion proceeds in an open discussion forum shouldn't be constricted by anybody's personal bounderies...that was the point in my post.
