About 10+ police cars raced down 2nd Street last night with lights and sirens going. We thought someone had gotten shot.

This was a real battle, Cops had to use tasers to get it under control.I wonder if that's what caused the Heart failure of the uncle. I'm sure Nutter will make a new law banning open bars at personal affairs....

I don't think Nutter has the power to ban open bars, but I wonder if the hotel will suffer some consequences for overserving.

I wonder what caused the fight between the two parties....

This is why you should never have your wedding the same day as someone else in the same place...

Amen to that. I had my wedding in a church my husband belonged to. Another bride, unaffiliated with the church, wanted the same day. She couldn't get married in her local Catholic church because the fiancé would not do the pre counseling. So my husband's priest (not Catholic) was asked by a friend to do this couple a favor and marry them. The priest told them that there was already a wedding scheduled before theirs (mine) and that the reception was also there so there would be no parking available in the parking lot. (He also asked us to have no music during their wedding which was okay for us.) So there we are eating our meals when this screeching can be heard from the churchyard. "my god, can this b**** take any more parking spots? There's no F***ing room for my guests to park. Go in there and tell the b**** to move a few cars." Yes it was the blushing bride. Thank goodness my guests did not confront her guests. But no one has ever forgotten her.

...And that makes me why some people are so nuts about legalizing some forms of it...
If you believe people should work till they die to pay for a government worker to retire at 50, you're a Democrat. Otherwise, you're a Republican. All other differences between the parties are trivial.

If you need a reason NOT to get married... THIS is the reason.

    Tomorrow's aftermath...

Gay wedding planner: "GEE-ZUHS. Goddammit I'm gonna have to call some upset bitches and move their weddings. SIGH."

MMA event planner: "YO DIDI BOOK THE SHERATON. WHAT? NO I JUST HAVE A FEELING ABOUT IT JUST FKN DO IT STFU."

The Sheraton turns into a Motel 6 within a year.

OK, nobody's profiled the wedding guests yet.

How much you want to bet one party or both are primarily from New Jersey? I swear I could smell some AXE body spray while watching that video.

    Anyone?

Snooki started the fight. She was probably a bridesmaid. I bet someone told her that baby she's got is gonna be as fugly as her and that's when it started.

That really shouldn't be a problem in a good-sized, mid- to high-end hotel with lots of ballrooms. Most brides, grooms and guests who have wedding parties at Sheratons, Marriotts, Hyatts, Hiltons etc. manage to get through the big day without brawling with wedding parties from the ballroom next door. Terrible if the man died from the stress of witnessing this melee between a bunch of probably drunken louts.

Google the term "wedding brawl" and over 7 million results appear. Now of course this story with a fatality just reenforces Philadelphia's role as national whipping post but I think that these fights are somewhat common.

Take an emotionally charged day, mix relatives from both sides, co-workers and some random assortment of friends, apply copious amounts of alcohol and stand back.

From my experience arranging the seating was a real eye opener though. As a male I pay almost zero attention to family dynamics so sitting down with my soon-to-be-wife and my mother was real family history lesson. Well Uncle Albert borrowed $200 in 1947 from Aunt Mabel's tenant so those two can't sit next to each other and during the oil crisis Uncle Joe would switch his license plates so he could get gas on non-approved days so he can't sit with Cousin Ted who used to own an Esso station...

At my wedding I charged two close friends with the role of security, essentially they were charged with task of shutting down any level of drama that started. Only had one flare up from a drunk girlfriend of a former colleague, he handled it himself and poured her into a cab.

On the other side of the coin I have been included in at least two wedding celebrations after returning to hotels end enjoying a drink in the lounge when suddenly a wedding party descends...in particular there was one greek wedding in Miami that I was compelled to join after a group of whirling dancing men and women snatched my date right from her bar stool...that was a helluva evening!
