I see cowardly philly.com already took down the comments section on this article. I guess they don't like it too much when readers post the truth and it offends their PC view of the world.

In Sparta, they used to throw babies off a cliff. And in China, they throw them down the well. We should consider imposing guidelines for having a child. If you don't meet them, your child is taken and thrown into the schuylkill. i know it sounds harsh, but it's far better than letting people have kids who can't seem to figure out how to properly raise them. it's really not that difficult to raise a kid who doesn't shoot, kill, rob, or otherwise behave like a wild animal. and i bet smart people can devise a test to determine the likelihood a child will become an animal that does things like shoot submachine guns at septa buses. if you're over 50% likely, into the schuykill you go. that will help keep the population down and let the parent(s) focus their time/energy on properly raising their children.

Sounds like eugenics, bro. Really nasty eugenics.

Last time babies were thrown into rivers en masse one of them was saved and brought ten plagues upon his host society. Is that what you want?

So were these guys just looking for someone to roll on South St. or what? Any more detailed description of the assailants, etc.

    Facts, please.

According to another article posted on Philly.com (Man shot near South Street),

"The shooter's motive was unclear, but cops said the incident may have been a robbery or drug related. Police found the victim's hat, an undisclosed amount of cash and blunt wrappers next to an overturned bicycle on the corner."

I wonder how much better the world would be if people could still do the above. While I do believe that not everyone should have children, who are we to decide?

I'm surprised that nobody has brought up sectioning off parts of the city and people have to show identification to pass.

That's not Society Hill. It's Queen Village.

Given the discount-store BMX and the blunt wrappers, I think we can all breathe easy for now.

You may not have noticed, but several months ago torts suffered a severe head injury that makes it impossible for him to formulate interesting or useful thoughts. He mostly just reposts the same repetitive, sarcastic allegories. He has good days and bad days, but after months of work, he has been able to stop surrounding everything he writes in quotation marks. I'm hopeful that he'll improve, one day at a time.

generally speaking, Society Hill's southern border is Lombard Street. The neighborhood Queen Village starts there - - the South Street Headhouse District has an overlay on a few blocks in the neighborhood (the business area) and SSHD is a business improvement district - but the 'hood is QV.
