This is horrible for this poor woman - and freshly new to the city too. I hope someone had warned her that she's not in Doylestown anymore. So much violence in the world.

Does anyone have any other details about this? Seven seems like a lot of assaults to happen in 2-3 weeks, before a report is issued, and the information offered here, outside of the last attack, is pretty vague. Also, the book publisher lived at Ninth and Spruce; usually not considered Society Hill.

Very disturbing that this is the first notification of these attacks. 7:30 in the evening is also very scary. Hope the women are okay.

I am very surprised to hear this has been happening in an area I consider to be very safe at that hour. Thank you for posting.

Also noticed this on some crime reports, though not mentioned in the newspaper article. Alarming that it took place at 1:30 in the afternoon at 200 Locust Street.

I heard that they caught the guy, or at least have a "suspect" in custody.

I sure hope so, and I hope they allow some of these victims to stand on the guy's nuts with high heels on.

What she was doing was not unreasonable at all.

I am always amazed when they news says in the vicinity of 4th and spruce and one of the attacks is on 12th... bad guys are mobile too.

A friend suggested to always carry a hammer and wasp spray. but all the time???? this is ridiculous.

My god you would think it would have made the news.

I was out early this morning in the general area of the attacks. I kept an eye out and avoided cutting thru small streets/alleys. I personally stopped wearing my iPod around awhile ago - wait till I am on the bus/train to plug in. I wasn't so surprised to see that a number of women were still wearing there iPods, but the woman who was walking down the alley both reading her book & listen to her iPod was a bit surprising... the only way she could be less aware of her surroundings would be to wear a blindfold.

I am all for not letting a criminal element affect the way you enjoy your life, but a little common sense to put the odds in your favor is just being smart.

Ok, I live and work and walk *everywhere* within and out of the areas of the attacks. And early in the morning too, to go to the gym. It really isn't smart to walk with a headset in, no matter where you are. This concerns me, but less so now that I know some of the behaviors of these women (not that I want to assign blame, here)--caution is the code word to live by.

Um, ok. I walk other places too, I was just relying a specific situation that caught my attention this morning in that specific area.

He still has not been caught. People should still be careful. Hopefully, they put him back in prison for good this time. Choking 73 year old women ... we're lucky nobody died.

Saw on the news that this guy was in prison for 20 years and just got out. Also he is a rapist. Thank goodness he didn't rape anyone.
