I am not the Jackass Whisperer.
How about we get more details before we all start making assumptions?
I think it was drugs. And I think we need more drug halfway houses and methadone clinics in all our neighborhoods in order to eradicate this senseless violence.

more like 20 but who is counting ?

That's where I got the data from. I'm only counting Sheffield to Robbins, Frankford to the Blvd. I know there are competing ideas of what's mayfair or not, so I figured I'd play it safe and not over-attribute murders to that neighborhood. My point is, the stuff has always happened to some degree. It just gets blown up now because people are afraid the dominoes will keep falling. It becomes like a self-fulfilling prophecy after a certain point. There are neighborhoods where you could drop 400k for a rowhome where people would roll their eyes at a story like this. Meanwhile in a nice place like Mayfair, it's the latest death knell.
Mayfair Civic Association: Shooting

Shooting
We were recently made aware of a shooting that happened last evening in our community; we can't stress enough how unfortunate this incident is but also that it does not define us. This appears to be a random act of violence, in the middle of the night, by strangers to our neighborhood. Nevertheless, we want to thank those ever vigilant neighbors in our community that immediately notified law enforcement. It is this type of civic activism that makes our community thrive. We hope that this one random, senseless act will not diminish all the great work we have accomplished over the last several years, including, but not limited to our brand new Farmers Market, our sparkling playground, our annual parade, egg hunt and tree lighting, etc. You have our word that we do our best to make the neighborhood a great place to live and work.

Weakness as in complaining is easy; getting up off your duff and doing something positive may be tougher...but it's more rewarding.
Random act of violence?
From the (very few) details available, it sounds very much NOT random to me.
As opposed to being methodically planned out ... I think that's what he meant

It happened in 7500 block of Brous, right? Go take a walk there at night sometime and count the dog walkers and enjoy the silence. It's a good area. Someone was involved in something they shouldn't have been and unfortunately was shot. Luckily nothing led to anyone else being hurt.
It's up to the neighbors now to calm down and get on with life. The damage panic selling and rumors can do has hurt many a rowhome/twin area in short time.
For what it's worth, the location of the incident is right up against the Boulevard and is farther west than what I think of as Mayfair, but I guess since it was east of the Boulevard it is Mayfair. I still love Mayfair; only reason I didn't buy there was because rowhome prices there were really inflated prior to the 2008 crash and a little high for me. Now I could easily buy there. Fingers crossed the good parts of the NE take a deep breath and stand pat.
Please tell me that loveisnoise has been finally banned from here??!
Mayfair is still a great place to live. It's definitely not what it was when I was a kid, but let's face it, the whole world isn't. Mayfair still has great events that are family oriented, The Thanksgiving parade, the new farmer's market, the newer annual Easter Egg hunt, etc. While there are things about Mayfair that make me sad, for the most par it is still a great place to live and raise a family.
