Default Cottman Ave Usps had a sign that said (Out to lunch back at 3:45)

I went to the Cottman Ave Post Office today at 3:15 P.M and It literally had a sign on the door that said, Out to lunch be back at 3:45.There were shocked people standing around the front of the door and One woman who was on the phone calling to complain to the usps offices or whatever and then proceeded to put a letter on the door with the phone # so other people could call. Was something going on today that they did this??I've never seen anything like that at a Federal Post office.

Anything is possible at that location. Even when they're not "out to lunch", the line goes way back to the door.
I surprised they didn't just leave the door open, and make everyone stand in line while they eat for 30 minutes.
Worst location I have ever seen.

This location is always crazy, so I am not surprised. It really makes me miss my ole 19149 Blvd location, & I really hate driving up to the Roosevelt Mall
    hassle!

I went there today and it was just a nightmare..

they had none of the priority mail boxes out

and the automated machine wouldn't take credit cards(of course noone bothered to put a sign on it, so i didn't know this until i left to run over to Office Max to buy packaging and then came back)

i wasn't about to wait in a line 30 deep so i just left after that.. waste of a trip

..and they wonder why they are going out of business

sadly it's the only one around with business hours that some people can get to.

i guess ultimately i'll just have to make sure i arrange my day so i can get to Longshore before they close at noon. (and if i have to ship during the week, i still have to go to cottman due to work)

i guess the postal union would never stand for it, but if they really wanted to save money and improve service they would start installing their APC machines in supermarkets and drug/convenience stores...or at least construct 24hr accessible vestibules in existing PO's to house them

Don't forget Castor and Levick (Stirling st).
I'll drive over there when the RM location is outta control, and I'll find 2 or 3 people in line.

so i took the package i couldnt send over the weekend to the post office by my office in King of Prussia.

wow.. pleasant staff, cold air conditioning, well stocked with all the shipping supplies you could ask for(plus stuff like greeting cards), short line(maybe because it was a weeknight).

i wonder if thats just due to better workers or some kind of budget disparity
