Unhappy Possible Big Tax Increase for Rhawnhurst Residents of the City Piladelphia

STATEMENT FROM MAYOR NUTTER REGARDING FIREFIGHTER ARBITRATION AWARD

Philadelphia, July 27, 2012 – Mayor Michael A. Nutter has released the following statement regarding the IAFF Local 22 arbitration award:

“Again, the City is facing an award that burdens taxpayers with more than $200 million in new expenses, and offers the City little flexibility to manage rising costs. The award is still not consistent with PICA requirements, and we will not agree to an award that could jeopardize the City’s financial position.

“This contract continues to ignore the City’s ability to pay for these benefits and perpetuates the same conditions that created the financial challenges the City has weathered over the past few years. It is unfair to taxpayers to continue down the same path. While we value the work of our firefighters, we have no choice but to appeal an award that imposes exorbitant costs and no methods to manage the impact of these costs.”

    1. Although this arbitration is indeed a bad sign for all of the other unresolved contracts with city unions in terms of precedent, by itself its not the killer that the increasing burden of retirement costs across the board are on the city budget.

    2. The title makes it sound like only Rhawnhurst's taxes will be impacted, instead of the whole city.

I assumed this would have to do with AVI impmentation, after which Rhawnhurst taxes should go down.

Mayor Nutter focuses on raising taxes to build for the huge population increase in the City of Philadelphia in the FUTURE
but can not afford for retired city workers to leech on his master plans.

Prepared by IHS Global Insight, the report also projects that household budgets will receive a boost from falling gas prices that are expected to decline to $3.11/gallon by the fall.

Over the next 30 years, the report shows that U.S. metros will grow in population by 32 percent or nearly 84 million people. More specifically, the report predicts that the population will grow by over 50 percent in 59 metro areas, over 75 percent in 21, and will more than double in three. Already, these regions are home to most of the nation’s traffic congestion, costing the average American commuter $713 annually.

Bixbyte, with 50% of the city not working, how can you bitch about people not getting enough government handouts on one side of your mouth while bitching about higher taxes for the people who do work on the other?

Official Government Unemployment rate is 8.3% so how did you arrive at 50% people in the City are not working?

At Least 75 % of people Living In The City would rather the Taxes Too go up In The N/E Instead Of within Their Own Neighborhoods.
    Which Is Not Fair Either
They Will Pick On 1 Neighborhood At A Time
    Divide And Conquer
    Where Money Is Never Enough

BY ANY CHANCE are you registered Republican?
The Pukes are setting up the voters in Philly during the Prez election to not show up.
Photo IDs and taking away money from the poor before the voters day.....
Good thing I am moving to another country.
