THE MAYOR REPLACED The MILK fat in the school lunch program with Skim (Fat Free) Milk.
Therefore he and other gov officials took away something from our babies in the school lunch program.
They took away the Fat needed to digest and help develop into the proteins needed for brain food.
But He is opposed to sugary drinks and took away the Soda machines from the educational systems our schools.

NOW as further evidence that this is a fraud that starves our children.
    First,
We examine a 12 oz can of HFCS soda this Contains 41 grams of sugar.
Plus a can of soda contains 150 calories.

And a 12 oz serving of Skim MILK contains 18 grams of sugar.
Plus one 12 oz serving of Skim Milk contains 135 calories.

The Calories of Skim Milk or Sweetened Soda are nearly the same.

Soda is nearly twice as much sugar but the sugar in Skim milk causes heart disease since it is an animal sugar!
The sugar in soda is made from plant source called corn this is the healthier natural vegetarian sugar.

SO, the government has managed to steal the Milk Fat from our babies.
    The GOOD NEWS IS,
The price of cheese goes down for the consumer since they skimmed it off our youngsters in their development years at school.
That is great news for inflation since we have too much milk fat that the government robbed from our children.
AND CHEAP CHEESE PRICES FOR THE ADULTS NOT ATTENDING SCHOOL!

YES, that is the way to go Mayor NUTTER.

Bixbyte, This is something you are truly passionate about. You grew up without enough to eat and you are right, no child should have to do that. Whole milk is not bad, in fact it can be good for kids. (some claim we don't need milk at all after a certain very young age but that's a different discussion.)

Pop has nothing of value in it for kids so don't worry about that. If they drank the same amount of water it would be just as good.

Let me suggest this to you. Take a deep breath. Write out what you want to say carefully on a word doc or something. then try again. I think you have some good points but you need to calm down enough to express them.

If nutrition for children who can't afford it is something you are passionate about, and it seem you are, you as an adult can do something about it!

Start small with your local school, see what they serve and ask how you can help change the quality of what they provide. There are lots of farmers not far outside the city who would love to be part of a movement to help get the kids who need it better food.

You could contact this group for a start. They love to help people upgrade school lunches. It's what they do.

Perhaps your former elementary school would be a good place to start. Good luck! Good for you for caring about kids and wanting to make a difference.

Protein: 10 to 30 percent of daily calories (40 to 120 grams for 1,600 daily calories)
Carbohydrates: 45 to 65 percent of daily calories (180 to 260 grams for 1,600 daily calories)
Total fat: 25 to 35 percent of daily calories (44 to 62 grams for 1,600 daily calories)

    MAYOR NUTTER’S SODA SUMMIT ADDRESS
    June 7, 2012
    ...
MAYOR: "In Philadelphia, two-thirds of adults and 40% of children are overweight or obese."

School children need exercise. BUT Mayor Nutter cut GYM activities.

    .....

MAYOR: "On average, Americans drink 20 oz. of soda a day. At 250 calories per 20 oz. soda that means the average American is drinking an extra 25 pounds a year in soda alone."

    EXTRA?

MAYO CLINIC LINK Boys age 9 to 13 daily carb intake needed for a growing Boy is listed at ~ 50%:
Carbohydrates: 45 to 65 percent of daily calories (180 to 260 grams for 1,600 daily calories).
HEY NUTTER the school kids Carb intake from soda sweetened with sugar is only 250 calories according to your own quoted speech. AND a growing BOY needs 1,600 to 2,600 Calories per day.

The Mayor doesn't starve poor children, their parents starve them. The starve them firstly by having kids they can not afford. Secondly they starve them by not buying the proper foods with their access cards. This may be the DUMBEST stance against the Mayor ever.

My friend, what you need to learn is that all calories are not created equal. calories from sugar are not equal to calories from fruit etc. and High fructose corn syrup is horribly bad for you. excess sugar is a risk factor for cardiac disease.

Please look at this entire page, there is a short vid, with more below it's important you watch them all.

If they get their calories from pop they might as well be starving because eventually it will kill them, lead to diabetes, heart problems etc.

What you want is for them to get rid of the pop and have their lunch provide more fruits and vegetables, good carbs.

Calories: not all created equal - 60 Minutes - CBS News

I've been giving you the benefit of the doubt so far but if after watching all the vids on this page you still want to skew the information in favor of toxic calorie intake I will have to assume there is some issue with you. Or you are simply a troll because so far, sorry to say you do not seem to see the truth. But you will if you are legit.

unless your next posting contains an ahha moment. i won't be replying.

getting essential calories from soda pop can damage your health and over time can kill.

i suppose you are one of those people that wants to begin sterilization.

There are many starving people who are not eligible for access cards, and by the way, there is no shame in using access cards.

Default Way for the government to steal your money. THE SODA TAX.

Soda tax - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

After you read the Soda Tax Link. Read my opinions:

By most accounts[citation needed], the beverage industry has outspent the pro-tax side and succeeded in painting the soda tax as a naked money grab cleverly disguised as a health policy.

    (Nutter needs a new tax)
    ...

Studies find that large loads of fructose, like that seen in sugar sweetened beverages, overwhelms the liver’s ability to metabolize the sugar by the normal pathway and the excess is shunted into pathways which result in fat production. The fat packs the liver as well as our waistlines. The fatty liver begins to malfunction and no longer responds normally to insulin, which results in a condition known as insulin resistance. The pancreas tries to compensate by putting out increasing amounts of insulin. The pancreas eventually poops out from overwork. Diabetes results. Unhealthy fats like small dense LDL (low density lipoprotein) and triglycerides are also released into the bloodstream. The unhealthy fats eventually plug up the arteries of the heart leading to heart attacks.

(Must have been a brilliant scientist that wrote this? "POOPS OUT")

    ....

A meta-analysis specifically asking to what extent sugar-sweetned beverages have contributed to the obesity epidemic concluded that: sugar-sweetened beverages account for at least one fifth of the weight gained between 1977 and 2007 in the U.S. population and that actions that are successful in reducing sweetened beverage consumption are likely to have a measurable impact on obesity.

(Meta-analysis studies are never considered for scientific facts)

I can not find any actual human studies that show a relationship of Soda and Obesity.
Someone care to give me a link?
I am talking scientific study, not some second party site quoting a study without a link to an actual human double blind study.
IMHO, Soda has not been scientifically proven unhealthy.

    I await any valid evidence.
    Thank You

    Sodium: 1,500 milligrams a day
Fiber: 22 to 36 grams a day, depending on daily calories and activity level
    Calcium: 1,300 milligrams a day
    Vitamin D: 600 international units a day

**** NOTE one 12 ounce SODA contains 150 Calories and a growing Boy requires 1,600 to 2,600 calorie intake from Carbs per day so they would need 10 cans of soda to absorb 1,500 calories AND 20 cans of SODA to absorb 3,000 calories.
How many kids 9 to 13 years olds drink 10 to 20 cans of SODA per DAY?
YES MAYOR NUTTER is making a mountain out of a molehill.
Thank You for the LINK with FACTS from the MAYO CLINIC!

It's clear that the total calorie range is 1,600 to 2,600 and that carbohydrates should range from 35 to 65% of that.

Even assuming the largest most active child they should not consume more than 1690 calories in carbohydrates a day. Assuming all carbohydrates should be consumed as coca-cola that means you can have 14 12oz. cans in a day or 7 20oz. bottles. A 44oz. cup is about 1.25 liters which is 500 calories or a bit less than one third of carb calories in the largest most active child. A 64oz. cup is just shy of 2 liters which is 800 calories about half of carb calories for the largest most active kid. Not to mention that a large portion of your carbohydrates should not be from soda.

I didn't say there was shame in using them. There is shame in not using them properly. When I watch someone purchase hoagies in Wawa on access cards for the price of a weeks worth of lunchmeat, inproper use.
As for sterilization; if an individual without means opts for it, feel free to use my tax money. I would rather see adults act responsibly on their own though.

There are many starving people who are not eligible for access cards, and by the way, there is no shame in using access cards.
