Default Anyone ever rent out / attend Albert's on Grant Avenue for a party?

I remember Albert's at Grant & Academy as being a decent place to go to eat. And although we hadn't been there in some time, we have rented a basement banquet room for a party within in the next month or so.

In the meantime, we decided to go there to eat. Needless to say, the place has gone downhill. Half the things on the menu were unavailable, including soup, Italian dressing and crabs, which they were known for.
The food that we did order wasn't that good. The waitress, who was nice, said that it's been the same management and cook for 12 years. We were the only dining patrons (Saturday evening) and the bar patrons were a rowdy bunch. The men's room was soaking wet with no paper towels and the soap was two plastic cups filled with that pink stuff.

Now I'm definitely worried that we've made a mistake. I want to know if anyone else on here has been there recently for a party or have had any experience, good or bad. Thanks.

Paddywhacks on Welsh has a really nice room in the basement for rentals. I highly recommend it!

Weakness as in complaining is easy; getting up off your duff and doing something positive may be tougher...but it's more rewarding.

If it was a gay joint, the food would be awesome.

I don't frequent Albert's , but I was there last Saturday after 9 to see my Brother's band play there. If you were there that night I was only slightly rowdy

Yea...I would never go to Alberts for their food..they get a young bar crowd some nights as well as the Centurian's Motorycycle Club many times, as I have been there to see my friend who bartends there...the upstairs club, Turbulence is a lot nicer with couches, lounge seats, ect. and they host many parties there as well.

When you see a "cup with some pink stuff" in the restrooms, that says a lot. Sorry, but that's not a good sign. At least bring your own liquid soaps in dispensers and some paper towels to avoid some of the embarrassment.

ps. I think mayfair's post, recommending another place, while not trashing Albert's is worth considering.
