As sad as this is, I found some of the comments below the story amusing.

It's true, the Braylon incident has been real good fodder for the trolls on Philly.com.

You're right...oh so right. Flee everyone, flee before "they" get you.

Did you ever stop to think in that brain of yours that if fewer people thought like you did, the neighborhoods would actually stay more intact and nicer? I bet you didn't.

Running away solves nothing. The problems just end up following you. People fled North and West Philly for the Northeast. The same problems followed them. They're fleeing the Northeast for the suburbs. Now the inner-ring suburbs are experiencing the same problems. Where are you going to run next? Nebraska?

I knew it wouldn't take you long to chirp in from your ivory tower, keep fighting the losing battle like the rest of the freedom fighters who refuse to see the cancer of urban decay that is ruing most major citys. BTW, that's not the reason I left, but it was a major factor in my decision.

CENSUS SAYS: CITY GROWING AS 'BURBS SLOWING

Yeah I know, this is all from poor blacks and hispanics breeding so they can rally troops for the final push into the northeast. Funny how if I squint my eyes I can almost see three buildings being renovated on my block. Probably going to all be section 8 housing right? Cause the only people that would want to live in a city are wretches and whores. Right?

With the psychotic gas prices, a long commute to and from the exurbs is looking less and less attractive nowadays. Where I live, I can walk to work in a reasonable amount of time if I wish. I could almost get by without a car as the supermarket, several decent restaurants and taverns, and several drugstores, bakeries, delis, and banks are within walking distance.

Ya know gas pricing is a joke, a game.... played over and over each year.

Of course, they mask it as being something else altogether.

Please point out to me where I said or even inferred that. Urban decay comes in all shapes, forms and colors but the apparent narrow minds of the likes of you like to try and twist peoples statements to fit your agenda. While we're at it what Utopia did you relocate from to save the poor and downtrodden of Philadelphia? And shouldn't you be watching Bill Maher right now for more talking points and ripping on Santorums ill child, or did mommy take away the popcorn and TV?
ETA: It was holier then thou MZ (when she wants to be)Moderator HP that inserted "they" into this thread, not me, so ask her what she means by that. But since she wants to go there, I hope "THEY", whoever they are ......ahhhh forget it and just insert your own prediciton on her naive, pompous attitude and that everyone but her and those that agree with her are the ones with the only opinions and experience that counts.

Haha, nothing like an incoherent rebuttal to shore up your point. Bill Maher? Not everything is liberal v conservative. In this case its reason v embittered, pompous urban refugee. You left, we get it. Nothing is more despicable than fleeing, then turning around to mock those who did not.

You're the one that just took incoherent to a new level, not that I'm surprised, I've seen many of your other rambling asinine posts. You just like to confront people you refuse to agree with, can't comprehend their POV or are bitter towards their thinking or way of life. We get it, maybe someday you will too, but I doubt it. And I'm still waiting for you to let me know where I brought "They/Them" into it also, I'm sure I'll never get that answer. You know nothing about me, where I lived in Philly, what I did when I lived there(for 50 yrs). I left for multiple reasons, mostly because of a child that suffered a traumatic event, but like I stated prior, the decay was also a factor in my decision. And I still come up there quite frequently to visit my kids, grandkids, other family and friends for days(sometimes weeks) at a time. Maybe we'll have the good fortune of running into eachother sometime.

We've had our share of back and forths on here, but you've been on this site and the prior one long enough to know that certain rules and attitudes are only allowed by the chosen ones and their cohorts with no reprecussions. Everyone else is either a racist, uneducated moron or a agenda filled hater. The narrow minded hypocrites will never, ever consider someone elses POV because they're always right.

    Understood and so noted.

Speaking for myself in a purely unbiased way, enough people have told me both online and in person that "I say out loud what others just think".

I don't mince words, sometimes I might be a bit crass and stuff, but I've been around long enough to know what's what.
I just have my own ways about me - I can't help it if at times I offend with my mouth - I ain't gonna change to please.

The funny thing about this thread is not many of the posts even refer to the incident of a 90 yo guy getting assualted and robbed by some "unfortunate misunderstood" street trash POS in his own home. This guy probably gave more service to our country and his community than any of the posters that want to twist his unfortunate situation into their own agenda combined. If my name was Adam, Chris, Gabby Iac..........or a few of the other select fair haired ones most of the off topic BS would have been removed because I would have called/messaged Malloy and said I'm taking my ball home and now nobody can play. Whaaaaaaaaaaa!

    About the elderly guy...
As unfortunate as it is, living in this city, ya gotta watch your back, particularly if you're prime target material.
This of course goes for any city, anywhere...
It's a shame to have to live like this, but as mentioned, the cancer of urban decay has been allowed to spread.

One never knows where it'll rear its ugly head..

Luckily, I live in a part of the city that stands and fights when things get tough, and I've no need to mention what's already been topics on the news.
That said, neighborhoods need to organize and stand their ground - I know, easier said than done, but not impossible.

Elders need to focus more on their banking habits to avoid things like this incident.
    It's happened before..

Just caught on NBC10 news - woman on 6300 Cardiff st. kept gun under pillow - child got hold of it, and is critical in hosp.
This address is mere blocks from the old guy who got robbed.
The woman didn't feel safe in her home.... hmm.

    See what crime breeds?

If we didn't have thieving scumbags on the loose, this crap wouldn't happen, people wouldn't be so much "on edge".

How tiring is this theme of stay or go. Hell, just do what makes you happy and follow your dreams. Nothing anyone says in here will convince anyone to move or not move, and everyone's perception is the correct one in their own eyes. There is good and bad everywhere; just that sometimes its more of one than the other. If your feathers get that ruffled, fly off and no one's the worse off for it.
    Cheers and good luck
