    Default Ice Cream Shop?

I'm looking for a place I can buy a cone of hand dipped ice cream (not soft serve) in the Northeast. The Dairy Queen on Grant does have a few hand dipped flavors, but does anyone know of other places with a good selection? Thanks!!

There's a shop on Frankford Ave in Mayfair, Not sure of the name but I think it's on the same block as Geno's Pizza. They have a lot of selection of both hand dipped and soft serve.

Might be a little far, but there's a Coldstone down on Aramingo Ave. Not positive but I think Twistee Treat @ Frankford/Longshore offers soft serve and hand dipped.

    Forget the chains.

    1. The Liberty Bell Diner on Frankford in Holmesburg, just above Pennypack Park (in front of the Holmesburg Shopping Center) has a great selection. They have both soft serve and hand-dipped. They even have sherbets. Also both cake cones and sugar cones. Water ice too. Did I forget anything? Oh yes, outdoor seating.

    2. Custard's Last Stand, at Five Points in Burholme (Cottman, Rising Sun, & Oxford). As with the Liberty Bell, good selection, hand and soft, cake and sugar, outdoor seating, etc., etc.

I lived for many years in Burholme, now live in Parkwood. I'd take my family to CLS every 2–3 weeks in the summer. Now it's too far to drive to, but we do make the drive to the LBD. (It's just close enough.)

There's just something about sitting out on a hot summer night on a bench eating a cone you just bought…

    I'll second Liberty Bell.

I can't think of the name of the shop on Frankford ave. It used to be Uncle Rich's but for some reason I think it just changed hands. It's on the 7300 block of Frankford.

You've also got the Twisty Treat further down Frankford ave at Longshore. You can't miss the pink plastic cone - Haha!

Can't go wrong with Custard's Last Stand.
