Default Guy knocking on our door asking for money

So, some guy just knocked on our door (10pm at night) asking if he could have $40 for a hotel room for his wife and kid. Thankfully, my wife was smart enough to just talk to him through the door. He gave her some story about how he got kicked out of a shelter in center city and just needs money for a place to stay tonight. As soon as she said she didn't have any money to give him, he walked away without saying another word.

Perhaps not nuts, but calculated. He knows what he's doing, and that's getting money out of people. I bet he found a few suckers to con that night.

What did he look like? Yesterday I had a guy come up to me and give me the same sob story. Only he said, "I need two dollars to get the bus." Uh....why did you come up here if you CAN'T PAY TO GET BACK TO CENTER CITY?!

I told him I had no money and I got attitude and he walked away.

Just like those god damn curb painters asking for money after slopping your addy number on the street - annoying.

Soiunds likke the guy who defrauded me of $1000. The police have a warrant for his arrest & I can't wait to testify against him. He took ALL my $$, leaving nothing for food & bills. I am literally starving because of this goon & all bills are overdue.

Oh yes! He took everything I had. His name is Eddie Addison & he does work for a lot of people in the 'hood. Thankfully, the police are taking it seriously & actually sent two detectives to interview me on 2 occations He's got a past record, so the cops easily id'd him. If only he left me $$ for food. Starvation is ugly & very painful.

It's because of knuckleheads like this I have a surveillance camera directed at my front door. If I don't recognize you or expect you, I'm not opening the door!

k,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,(That was my cat saying hello)
Give him your wife and say-
Well it's been ten years and a thousand tears
And look at the mess I'm in
A broken nose and a broken heart,
    An empty bottle of gin
    Take away
Take away this ball and chain

It was dark out and my wife was looking at him through the small window in our front door, but she said he was a white guy in his mid 30s with brown hair that looked like it was in a pony tail. He was wearing an orange or brown jacket.

I will say this - as a child growing up in Lawndale, there was a time that my father lost his job and we had NO money whatsoever. He was too proud to apply for gov't assistance, and he very humbly did this to get anything he could to put food on the table.

Of course, he asked first the resident and then did so...maybe that's different. Who knows.

That's just it - these goons don't even knock or ask to paint your curb - they knock AFTERwards and EXPECT payment.
    Screw that!

i think that same guy was hanging around shop rite a couple of weeks ago giving somewhat of the same story. said he had lost his house on longshore ave to foreclosure and that he and his family were living in the baseball field at vogt and just needed a couple more dollars to get a cheap hotel for the night. when i told him "sorry, no" he got pretty aggravated.
