    Default another shooting

Just heard there was another shooting last night on the 6300 block of Cottage Street. What happened to Tacony? My house is sinking and I can't afford to move. God just give us a heads-up if the house is coming down. Had section 8 living next door for many years, put up with that.....renters, drug dealers, dirty households.... Gotta play the lottery just to find a small place to live out our lives in peace and quiet.

Ah, the stupid tax as they call it.

Your money spent on lottery tickets would be better spent on say, improving your situation?

Get this jerk's comment from the article!

I have just one question for all you GOOD-OLD-FOLKS in the northeastGHETTO, with the economy sluggish like it is and homes costing 3to4 times more than what them BUNGALOWS you now live in cost and crime now rearing its ugly head rite in your front yards, where do you scarry @$$&$ plan to move to next?- No where because the only ones of you still left in the northeastGHETTO is the ones too darn poor to make it out, thats right you like the rest of them are stuck.- Most of you fooled yourselves with that dumb behind false sense of safety thinking the northeastGHETTO was any better or different than the BAD-LANDS of north philly.- Think about it, remember when K&A was considered the northeast by all of you same GOOD-OLD-FOLKS, well it still is and still WHITE TOO.- This is too funny, you got all of you bums posting comments up here daily putting every other race of people down and as it turns out you all are the ones stuck in the thick of it, because believe you me, good old crime is heading straight your way and them BUNGALOWS yall live in aint worth the CINDER ASH that they sit on.

The Northeast hasn't started to become a ghetto until the last 10-15 years. There are still a lot of great neighborhoods in the Northeast though places like Olney, Oxford Circle, and Lawncrest are pretty much lost and places like Mayfair and Northwood are under constant attack.

Poor? Maybe we're not STUPID enough to pay half a million dollars for a cardboard and Tyvek McMansion that'll blow down in the next strong storm and leave us underwater on our mortage. Maybe we don't feel like paying $700 heating bills to heat a 6500 square-foot house that's only 33% occupied. Those "bungalows" this knucklehead disparages are infinitely better built than the stapled-together particle board garbage that passes for the housing nowadays.

Did it ever occur to this idiot that some people like living in the city? I'd hate living in the suburbs because I'd have to drive everywhere and go to the same awful chain stores and restaurants everywhere. Did it also occur to him that people like living in the Northeast and would like to raise their children in the same neighborhood in which they grew up?

K&A was a nice neighborhood until all the factories closed and the "element" moved in. This is the same "element" that destroyed much of Olney.

The only neighborhood I know of that was built on cinder ash was Logan which is still in North Philly.

Running away to the suburbs solves nothing as the trash just follows you. Ask the folks in Upper Darby. Me, I'm tired of being in a race with the ghetto and running away. I'm taking a stand and taking my neighborhood back from those who seek to destroy it.

The worst thing we can do to fools like this is for all tax-paying productive citizens to move out of Philadelphia. Then they no longer have "whitey" or some other boogeyman to blame for why their lives suck and why they live in a slum. Knuckleheads such as this could turn Beverly Hills into a ghetto while other folks could make Point Breeze a paradise.

But him wasting time on a comment on Philly.com is like talking to the wall.

They just need to shut down comments, its not giving the more hits or even adds to any of the articles.

I would tell them to switch to Facebook, but that wouldn't stop the stupid.

or... you could move only about 15 miles out, where you can buy a 3 br home for under $175,000.oo, pay about $3,000 taxes on about a quarter acre, stable water and utility costs, with safe commnities, excellent schools, fair and representative local government, and no Section 8 or PHA to contend with but I know thats not everybody's cup of tea. Just saying.

Again...why do you come here except to lord it over the lowly peons who in your estimation are too stupid to get out? If you like it where you live, fantastic, but leave everyone else alone, kthx. If you and that other 'rocket scientist' were really so happy where you live, you wouldn't be so concerned with coming here and checking up on things.

The other Rocket Scientist lived on the Oxford Circle/lower Mayfair border. While it's not fair to blast the NE, it's understandable why he would post negatively about his old neighborhood.

StatesRights on the other hand doesn't make sense to me. Rhawnhurst? What exactly are you comparing Rhawnhurst to that it warrants the level of bashing you lay on? A friend took a job with the city last year and moved to Rhawnhurst from Jersey. Loves it. Is there a hidden boogie man I should tell him about? Should I put him in touch with you so you can 'enlighten' him - ruin his perception of the new neighborhood and convince him that he and his wife are doomed? The fact of the matter is, telling good people to avoid a nice neighborhood based on the usual urban flight fears creates a self-fulfilling prophecy. And I'm going to assume you don't wish harm on your old neighborhood...
