Those are EVERYWHERE! Have you seen the robot-looking one? I see that at almost every intersection.

They're not often found this far north within the city; maybe on the Boulevard but not on Frankford Ave. Someone who did it lives here.

I found it this afternoon at Frankford @ Hellerman

They're under the El in Frankford, I'll get you a pic if I remember where I saw them.

Well, it could be a lone ranger driving around in a van at night. But since there's a bunch of those tiles on Chestnut/Market/South, I would imagine the fixed-gear bicycle set would have continued the tradition.

I'll know for sure if Hipsters are invading if I start seeing more sticker "art" all over the place up here.

Excuse my ignorance, and not being able to make out what that "thing" says...

But what is it?.... what is the meaning?.... and pray tell, why?

Anyway, we've got enough trash and graffitti around.. who needs it.

MM, I can remember those tile around the Roosevelt Mall and on parts of Cottman Avenue years ago. I don't think it's anything necessarily new.

Its grafitti that for some odd reason is acceptable and cool with the yupster and hipster sets. Google it for more info.

Hipsters? Toynbee tiles? Don't even kinda sorta see a connection. Is there evidence that any hipster anywhere had read some history?

After a quick Wiki about this nonsense, it seems to be to be just that... bullcrap.

Push on people, there's nothing here to see...

Is the hipster population generally good for an area, or bad?

It's negligible since most of them try to live one step above "broke". Only a nuisance unless you live right next to one of their common congregation places... a vintage record store or next to any bar that runs PBR specials.

I'm not sure what a "hipster" is... but I'll tell ya... if I see one more woman in Mayfair with tattoos on her forearms (some are sleeved)....all are white... I think I'll be giving up hope on the 'working class" classification and give way to the "low class"

Hipsters are the first link in the gentrification chain, so whether they are good or not depends on whether or not you like gentrification. Other than that you'll find lots of Parliament butts and PBR cans littering your 'hood.

Are you serious? Just because someone has tattoos they are classified as low class??? Wow, I hope you’re not my neighbor. This "low class woman" has a tattoo on her wrist and has spent over 20k in recent months fixing up an eyesore home in the Tacony section of NE Philly. I also work for a huge PBM, where I'm an auditor and college educated. What in the hell does having a tattoo do with being "low class"?

Low class is my non-tattooed neighbors (married couple) that has 5 foot high weeds growing out front, cracked steps, and dog feces all over their property. But I guess since they are tattoo-less they're ok.

Get a grip.

Oh FYI, I know you said "woman in Mayfair with tattoos on her forearms", I grew up in Mayfair and everyone of my neighbors (tattooed, pierced, or whatever) took care of their property. Stop stereotyping people because of such trivial issues.

j/c.. I knew I was gonna get spanked for this. Don't get your panties in a twist.

Perhaps I should have elaborated on what I was referring to and seeing more and more of which is these sleeved women using their access cards pushing a baby stroller with a cigarette hanging out of their mouth.

And FWIW, I do think women having tattoos on their forearms or being sleeved is a bit low class. That's my opinion.

Mayfair seems to be undergoing a real transformation.
