Default Best places to eat/drink in Mayfair, Tacony/Wissinoming, Holmesburg

What are - in your opinion - the best places for Steaks, Pizza, Chinese, Indian, etc.(what am I missing?) in the general area. What sets them apart?

What are places that are just downright

Any place one should definitely check out? (like Grey Lodge?)

(sorry - I meant to put this in the food forum (and thought I had). Mod can decide if you want to move it.)

I'm not much for Indian or Chinese, but in I think the best places in MAYFAIR are:

    Steaks - Wit or Witout
    7352 Frankford Ave.
    Philadelphia, PA 19136
    (267) 343-7667

    Pizza - Santucci's square pie,
    4010 Cottman Avenue
    Philadelphia, PA 19135
    215-332-4333

    or Gino's traditional pizza
    7326 Frankford Avenue
    Philadelphia, PA 19136-3800
    (215) 338-3360

Aya Asian Fusion has great sushi rolls and pad thai. Kao Tip is one of the best Thai restaurants I have been too. Pasianos and Zaccone are both very fine Italian places.

Steaks- Original Boston for a chopped up pizza shop steak. Gray Lodge has the best around IMO though.

Chinese- AYA is a great place with great Chinese and sushi. There aren't any other good chinese places. They are all the same.

    Drinking- Gray Lodge

    Second for Zaccone and Paisano's.

Pizza- Second for Santucci's if you like square pizza with the cheese on top. Second Gino's for regular style.

I went to Aya Asia Fusion Saturday for my daughter's 18th. It was my first time having sushi. My friend who came with us absolutely loved his sushi. Said it was the best he's had in a very long time.
Our food was delicious, the place was clean and service was great. I took home a menu so I can order in when I'm craving chinese (which they also have). Highly recommend this place!

Theres always Chickies and Petes, have never had bad food there and I find their prices to be reasonable. We are very lucky to have both the Grey lodge and Chickies and Petes so close!

    You're moving close to me.
You're in easy walking distance to SmokeEater's Pub @ Fkd. & Sheffield. It's not the young, wild scene like some of the others on the Ave. It's where I go if I don't want to drive anywhere.

Oh, as we were leaving, we saw a party coming in with a bottle of wine. So, it's a BYOB.

I agree that Steve's is the best around in the NE. I just didn't list it beacause it wasn't in the area requested. But I'm definitely with you.

Geatas on Castor ave near rhawn- best tomato pie. Possibly the best in the city.

Drinking- Three Monkeys- very nice looking and good food.

I like the Pizza at Gearo's. Nice bar also.

I second this. Also my walking distance place, so I end up here a lot.

The Red Robin is a rock solid diner. If we are venturing outside the immediate neighborhood then Macaronis on Old Bustleton, Sweet Lucy's, and the Dining Car.
