Default Place to get keys made?

Does anyone know if a place to get house keys duplicated in Mayfair, or along the Boulevard from Woodhaven Road down to Harbison Avenue?

You can hit Penn Hardware at Frankford and Bleigh, or you can go to the Chinaman in the Roosevelt mall at the Key Hut. I've used both for years.

Everytime I've had keys made at Home Depot or Lowes they never worked. The keys would fit into the lock but they wouldn't turn.

I've had all my keys made at Penn Hardware. Cheap and quick, and never had a problem.

Smiths Hardware on the 6900 block of Torresdale, they've been around forever, good people.

    Ha ha!!
Not sure what that means. It's right at Frankford and Bleigh. It's called Penn Hardware, but it's also an ACE Hardware.

They're on top of you soon as you enter the place, a little too much IMO. Besides I stopped patronizing that place when the new ownership took over several years ago. I usually head to Smiths (Penn/Ace also) when I'm in that area. They've been in the community for at least 40 years and I'd prefer to give them my business over an owner that's been in the country maybe 10 years, if that.

Ha ha ... Yeah I'll give you that. They Do hop on ya as soon as you enter, but once you tell them that you're just browsing they leave you alone.

Seconding Key Hut in Roosevelt Mall. My family has been getting key duplicates made there for at least the last 20 years. Never had a bad duplicate from him yet.

Same here! Lowes keys never worked. They are made on an automatic machine. And they don't always select the proper blank to fit your original. The key hut guy is a true craftsman!

It's better to over pay slightly the first time then to keep paying for duplicates that don't work.
