    Default One question -

Newkirk st. Strawberry Mansion section - not good to rent? My roommate found a rental there online.

Have you looked at that street? You could make an argument for Strawberry Mansion near the park, but on the other side of the railroad? Next to the roughest section of Ridge? Hmmm.

No, haven't seen it yet. I'm not really too familiar with Phila. We are compiling a list of possible rentals. So, I will cross this off.

    Thanks.

I live in Strawberry Mansion and find that 33rd and Oxford to Montgomery just as fine and friendly as you get. You are right across/on the park and could hop on the bus at Cecil B. Moore to Temple. Rents are affordable and there are many signs currently up.

I live in brewerytown also and their are five houses on my blocks that rents to temple students . So, I would try looking into an apartment around there and you can walk to the art museum

One thing we noticed on our adventure this weekend was a few renters that offered shorter leases - but they did add additional cost to the rent to make up for it. They get it one way or the other, apparently. One more thing to think of - should we keep it through the summer or not.

Why not? You can leave your furniture there and won't have the hassle of moving. Of course that depends on what type of landlord you have -- hopefully it is one that is trustworthy and would check on the property frequently -- perhaps the LL would allow for a sublet? Perhaps you could take a summer course? How far is your hometown? Consider working in the city over the summer and living away from home.

DO NOT live near Temple's campus. Try to make your class schedule for daylight hours. Temple students are targets. Students that are unfamiliar with the area should just paint a big red target on themselves, especially female students. Keep your head on a swivel when you are walking off of the campus.

This is a very silly comment. The Temple area is not what it used to be. Your chances of being mugged are no greater than if you lived in Fairmount or Southwest Center City or any other urban neighborhood.

Also if anyone on Temple's campus tries to talk to you make sure to position yourself in a karate stance and yell "I will not be a victim!". Be careful, some of those crafty felons will use phrases like 'Hello', and 'Why are you pointing that can of Mace at me?' to lull you into a false sense of security. Your best bet for safety is to isolate yourself socially, and as live far away from the actual campus as possible.

Oh for crissakes. It hasn't been that way in 15 years. You must be a cop who lives in the far NE and is afraid of anything south of Levick St.! You really need to take a walk around campus, and pay particular attention to the liveliness of it, at all hours.
I would rather be a bitch than dense!

I said it before and I'll say it again...Raider.Adam for mayor!

He asked me if I went to Temple, then he tried to ask me what my major was. He was totally trying to rob me!
