Quality of life issue again. Cops see these bikes all over and do nothing to stop them. If these guys were riding through Rittenhouse Square, they would have called the "Public Safety, Unit 2, Tactical Response Unit".

They really need to crack down on these idiots. They don't want to chase them because it's dangerous? Well, obviously, its dangerous if they don't chase them too.

There's a whole bunch of knuckleheads a block south of me who frequently speed up and down Tabor Avenue on ATVs and dirt bikes. They're typical white trash. They've had a lot of close calls with cars and trucks.

That is out of control, beyond the pale. This makes me really, really angry. What an awful situation to be in, but if it comes down to it, I'm gonna smear some little ATV riding punk who pulls this sh*t on me. I'll be damned if some feral little jackal is going to put me in the ICU for telling him to quit blocking the road. Car vs. ATVs ='s Car. I'll call that bluff AND call the cops.

Man this makes me madder than anything I've heard since that young father got shotgunned because his $14 and cell phone weren't "enough"

In this case, maybe not. It sounds as though the poor guy was so shaken by what happened that he crashed into the tree rather than be able to get away.

I dunno if you would think so much as hope, HG.

Have you seen the movie Idiocracy?

Interesting 'article' in the (on here) much maligned Metro (I like the Metro for what it is) about a British produced biopic on Darwin's struggle with his own personal views on Christianity and his scientific findings. It's opening @ the Toronto Film Festival, but the producers cannot find anyone to carry the movie stateside...to paraphrase "they can't believe that Darwin is *still* such a hot potato". The piece also mentioned Darwin's Theory polling in the mid-30's as far as % of Americans who believe in Evolution.

From what I read, they pulled along side him and began throwing things at the car -- he fled and hit several parked cars before trying to escape on foot.

Maybe he wouldn't have been so shaken if he had had a gun. Shoot one of those ****ers, maybe run another couple over, and watch the rest scatter like cockroaches.

I had some thugs block the road in front of me a couple months ago. I just sat and waited for them to move. My husband and best friend keep asking me why I didn't honk at them....

Aged six to fifteen? As a cyclist its not very comforting knowing there's six year olds cruising around the city on ATVs. There has to be better enforcement on this issue. I know the cops can't really chase them, but something has to change.

While I'll agree with you on the slide towards Idiocracy, considering what Hollywood has excreted in the past the reason given above for failing to find a distributor sounds like a lame excuse.

I think it's more that (potential) distributors are worried about an angry, organized fruitloop backlash. If you liked Idiocracy there's a good documentary called 'Jesus Camp' . A highlight is the....grotesque....camp organizer singling out the more sensitive kids, wistfully hoping one will sack up and blow himself up on a bus (San Francisco?) for Christ.

not that the article was very well written- I thought the sane thing when I first read it- but that's *numbers* ranging from 6-15, not ages.

I AM sure there are plenty of 6-15 year olds riding ATVs...

    Somewhat related:

I pulled inot a local 7-11 lot a year or so ago and two thugs were standing in the only open spot....so I pulled up to them and honked....they looked at me...gave me an attitude and moved back a little. When I got out they continued to harass me somewhat until I tossed the one kid to the pavement.

They need their asses handed to them in order to set them straight....either that or they will continue to degrade the surrounding communities. Remember...silence denotes consent...

    Two words: Not Guilty.

Heathens like these bothering honest Philadelphians are one of the reasons I never shirk jury duty. Despite the many and daily reasons for losing it, both cases I sat on gave me renewed faith in the citizens of Philadelphia- although granted, that doesn't include everybody...
