Sydney Clayton remains in the hospital and faces a number of charges. Investigators are waiting on toxicology reports to see if he was on drugs. Clayton has had 17 prior arrests for violence and drug related offenses.

The officer is out of the hospital but his name has not been released.

i've watched the video three times and am very impressed. no one can doubt his conditioning. and his footwork is amazing. i'm surprised he's not heavyweight champ right now.

Btw, does Philly have an 18-strikes-you're-out rule? I think we should look into that.

Uh, this happened in West Philly near the Mann Music Center. Not sure why it's in the North Philly forum.

I'd definitely wager PCP. It's a shame he lived, and we're paying for his surgeries/rehab. I'm in that area all the time. Not sure how I'd react if something like that was going down.

Just to qualify my statement, I hate to see anything like that happen, but after 17 priors and with his behavior as evidenced in that video, my pity levels are pretty low. Like I said, I'm there all the time picking stuff up from Lowes, so I know the area pretty well. It's highly trafficed, so he could have gone after anyone. And now we have to pay at least $100k (just for the surgeries) because of his terrible judgement.

IIRC, he robbed (or stole from) a store nearby first, which is what brought out the police.
