Will you be starting your senior year of high school in September 2012? Are you thinking about college but not sure where to start? We can help!
The Free Library of Philadelphia will be offering a Summer College Prep Program for 200 rising seniors from July 9th until August 16th. This FREE program will be offered at 10 library locations throughout the city. We will help you prepare to successfully apply to college in the fall of your senior year by providing intensive support on the following:
• Mastering the SAT
• Selecting the right colleges to apply to
• Secrets of a winning college application
• Applying for financial aid and scholarships
Three hour SAT prep workshops will be offered once a week by professional instructors from JEVS Human Services. One hour fun and engaging workshops will be offered three days a week by College Prep Specialists. College Prep Specialists and College Student Coaches will also be available before and after the one hour workshops to offer additional support. In addition, the College Prep Specialists will offer personalized office hours once a week for each participant. Each time you reach a significant milestone, you will receive a $10 voucher that you can redeem for cash after completing the entire program!
Not only will you receive free resources through these workshops and office hours, but you will also have the opportunity to visit local colleges and universities, as well as attend a college fair! Our support won’t end after the six week program. As you are applying to colleges in the fall, you can also schedule office hours to continue receiving personalized help every step of the way. In addition, a practice SAT session will be held in September before the exam is offered in October. Parents will also be invited to a special Info Night in September.
A final celebration will be held in December to congratulate you on applying to the colleges of your choice! You will also receive a voucher for a college sweatshirt, which you can redeem once you select which school you will attend, as well as other incentives.
To participate, you must complete this application and commit to attend each workshop, your weekly office hours, and the college fair.
